Announcing a new Meetup for Bay Area Thrill Seekers & Adventurers Club!!

What: Claremont Canyon Sunset Hike: Monday June 14th 7pm

When: Monday, June 14,[masked]:00 PM

Claremont Canyon -Stonewall trailhead entrance in Berkeley CA
(It is near Claremont Hotel off of Claremont Ave-- instructions below)

This Monday June 14th (sorry for the short notice) at 7pm.

We will meet on Sunday at 7:00 PM at the entrance to the park at the end of Stonewall Road and will be back by 10:00 PM, if not sooner.

The hike is STEEP from the start, but we will only be ?climbing? for about 40 minutes before it gets flat-ish. We won?t be going super fast (more like moderate), but we won?t be stopping for breaks along the way either, so if you don?t like steep trails, or need lots of breaks, this won?t be a fun one for you.

Bring water (!!!), flashlights if you have them, and layers (as the weather can turn cooler when the sun sets). If you tend to get hungry while hiking, bring snacks that are easy to consume as you hike? as we plan to be walking all of the time.

The views along the way will be amazing and it is lovely to see the light change at this time of day. This is a great place to watch the sun set and towards the end of the hike it should be nice and cool. : )

That said, by agreeing to go on this hike, you take full responsibility (legal and otherwise) for your own health and safety. Neither the leader of the hike nor the group are responsible for you, you are. So if you are not sure you can handle it or need to go back early, it is your responsibility to take care of yourself Also, we are leaving at 7PM sharp. This means if you are late, it is your job to catch up with the group!

To reach the Stonewall trailhead entrance from Highway 24, exit Fish Ranch Road immediately east of the Caldecott Tunnel. Go up Fish Ranch Road about one mile to the four-way stop. Continue through the stop; Fish Ranch becomes Claremont Ave. Continue for about 3 miles. Make a right onto Stonewall Road and continue for approximately up the road for about 1/10 a mile to the trailhead. Option 2 is to park on Tanglewood, which is one block west of Stonewall. THere is a little path/sidewalk that goes straight to the trai lhead (about a 4 minute walk).

We May have an Optional Dinner BEFORE the Hike: 5:45 PM (still up in the air)
(if we do it, this would be at Crepe Vine on College Ave and Ocean View near Rockridge BART).

CARPOOLING ENCOURAGED- Saves gas, good for the earth, and helps with parking if fewer cars end up there. To offer a ride, just add it to your comment when you RSVP. However, to find a ride, don?t contact me, contact someone who RSVPed and said they could offer a ride. (I am carpooling with a friend already--2 seater).

A good place for carpoolers to meet would be the Rockridge BART station, which is right near Crepe Vine and very close to the trail head. From there, just drive on college to Claremont Avenue, head east on Claremont, and turn left at Stonewall Road. (Or Tanglewood which is right before Stonewall). Park on either of those and head to the trail!

Again, we are leaving at 7PM sharp so that we can take advantage of the light before darkness hits. This means if you are late, it is your job to catch up with the group!!!!

Hope to see you there!
