THE SWEET TOUR: A Guided Walking Tour with Tasty Treats ($20 includes food)

Join us for a huge treat -- a guided walking tour in which you will sample chocolates, baked goods and other sweets at quality ethnic shops in Kensington Market and Chinatown. Our guide will be Ian from Tasty Tours Toronto.

After the tour, we'll go for another treat -- lunch at The Grilled Cheese, a rustic cafe that sells a creative variety of grilled cheese sandwiches in Kensington Market.

Our group is getting a discount of more than 30 per cent off the regular price of this tour!

NOTE: There are only 16 spots for members on this tour due to the small size of the shops we'll be visiting. However, if lots of members sign up, the same tour may also be offered in the afternoon after lunch. Members on the waiting list will get first priority at spots for the afternoon tour if it's posted.

THE TOUR

Travel the world in one afternoon as we taste a variety of multicultural sweets in the crazy, colourful neighbourhood of Kensington Market. Did you know that the marshmallow used to be healthy? Find out the little known secrets behind the sweets we eat everyday, and try some new delicacies.

What to Expect
• Guided tour on the history of sweets
• Introduction to five sweet stores
• Samples from each location
• Discounts at select merchants
• Fun yum times for all!

Walking Difficulty
Easy. Some narrow and crowded sidewalks, crossing some major roads.

Dietary Restrictions
The tour is almost entirely vegetarian and can be made mostly vegan (please mention when making booking). Unfortunately, other restrictions cannot be accomodated at this time.

Keep in Mind

• We are a food tour and not a historical tour
• The end point is a seven-minute walk from the start point
• It might be a little crowded in some of the smaller stores and on afternoon tours
• Bring water, an appetite and some extra cash to buy more yummies

Well...combining the cost of transportation, meet up fee and the cost of the tour itself it wasn’t worth the sum in my opinion. It was too short, the stops were limited, overall the treats were not unique and the information was limited. Ian was a personable guide though...

It was great to meet you all and a beautiful day to be outside in Kensington. I agree with the comments about the tour - and was doubly disappointed we missed the chocolate shop! :)

I guess I was not the only one that was not impressed. Great neighbourhood, great company, but disappointing tour. Especially the last stop, I wasnt expecting a piece of marshmallow and chocolate on a bakery tour. Nice to meet some new peopke though!

Ditto to Belinda's comments. I was hoping for treats out of the realm of the ordinary.
It was very nice meeting the group, revisiting a new Kensington, walking and talking on a beautiful sunny day.

To be honest, I wasn't impressed. I went on this same tour in March when it was led by Audrey and it was much better. I had arranged for Audrey to do this tour for our group, but on Friday she informed me she was away overseas and an alternate guide "Ian" would give the tour. Ian was very nice, but his tour lacked the depth of Audrey's tour and it ended 40 mins. early. We also didn't get to see the chocolate shop because it was closed due to a family illness. It was nice seeing everyone and walking through Kensington. A warm wellcome to first-time attendee Kirsta.

    • Belinda

Yes, I would consider repeating the tour if enough people sign up. I would need 15 people serious about purchasing tickets for this tour in order to offer it again.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
