The Magnificent Seven is a westernized, country western remake of Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa's 1954 masterpiece, The Seven Samurai.
A poor Mexican farming village looks to hire gunmen to protect them from bandits who always steal most of their crops at harvest time. The villagers are impressed with Chris (Yul Brynner) and he recruits six other hired guns. Eli Wallach portrays Calvera, the leader of the Mexican bandits that heavily outnumber the seven hired guns.
This is definitely a beloved classic film. It runs an amazing 93 per cent on Rotten Tomato's tomatometer.
The unforgettable music score went on to become the Marlboro cigarette theme of the 1960s.
