SOLD OUT !!! Trudeau And The FLQ (VideoCabaret $25/$35)

Join us for VideoCabaret's Trudeau And The FLQ, an unusual dramatic comedy that is a followup to last year's smash, The War Of 1812. The show is presented in association with Soulpepper Theatre Co. at Toronto's historic Distillery District.

After the show, there will be a 15-minute talkback with members of the cast.

A VideoCabaret production is an INCREDIBLE experience. Guaranteed you've never seen anything like it before! Read members' COMMENTS about last year's show.

Our group will save more than 35 per cent off the regular adult price by going to a preview performance.

You should purchase your ticket as quickly as possible because the theatre only seats 75 and this performance will sell out!

UPDATE MARCH 24: THIS PERFORMANCE IS NOW SOLD OUT!

THE SHOW

As the centenary of Canada's Confederation approaches, Quebec separatists crank up the violence. On a stage lit by terrorist bombings, Professor Trudeau pirouettes to power. The acid-tripping rock-throwing Sixties are conjured up by a master storyteller with the magical stagecraft of the 2013 Dora-winning VideoCabaret Ensemble.

The play is written and directed by Michael Hollingsworth, a founding playwright of VideoCabaret.

This is the first time I have seen a video cabaret performance and what an amazing experience it was. It is now my life's mission to see any and all Michael Hollingsworth's plays. Belinda, thank you, thank you and thank you again for encouraging me to give this a go!

I was blown away by this troupe yet again. Such versatile performers and Mac Fyfe was uncanny as Trudeau. Thanks Belinda for organizing the meetup and the talk-back afterwards. It was a treat!

I once believed the Commedia Dell'arte style could only tell a limited number of stories, but this show proved me wrong. It worked really well, incorporating the typical scenarios, such as pompous leaders and cuckolded boyfriends, with this more modern story (la plus ça change...). The actor playing Trudeau was bang on and weirdly attractive (as a young girl, I never understood his effect on women). Also, for a preview of a technically difficult show, it was seamlessly executed. Can't wait to see what they do next!

Excellent!!! Fantastic!!! So funny and different from traditional forms of theatre--must experience for yourself. Trudeau and the FLQ is better than last year's The War of 1812.

What an innovative production! They could not have found a better person to play PET. I would love to see it again in a matinee. Wonder if they are showing again on a weekend during the day. Interesting that a woman played Peerson. Fuddle diddle! Can't spell.

This was superb! How come I don't remember the subject being so much fun in history class?

Ohhhh did I ever enjoy this show! It was just superb ... and so funny! I would love to go back and see the it again. The script, acting and production were all amazing. A HUGE thank you to the stage manager and cast for doing a talkback despite their exhaustion after the show. A warm welcome to first-time Thumbs Up member attendee Wendy and first-time guests Eileen (Lisa's friend) and Keiko (Roger's friend).

Trudeau and the FLQ ---what a fabulous production! I will be on the lookout for all Soulpepper Productions in future. Thanks again Belinda.

@ Patricia: This wasn't a Soulpepper production. It was a VideoCabaret production.

Wonderful production - just checked Video Cabaret's website, I was looking for the guy who played General Brock in The War of 1812, he looked like one of the actors in this but in fact was not in this production. His name is Richard Clarkin.
