ABOUT CARYL CHURCHILL:  Caryl Lesley Churchill is a British playwright whose work has been associated with surrealist and postmodern theatre. She was born in London on September 3, 1938. Her family moved to Montreal after World War II. In 1957, Churchill moved back to England to attend Oxford University, where she earned a B.A. in English Literature in 1960. During her time at Oxford, Churchill wrote four plays--all of which were performed by Oxford student theater groups. More information.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT PROJECT:  Since 2012, The Playwright Project has brought together great theatre companies to stage the works of great playwrights (Tennessee Williams in 2012 and Sam Shepard in 2013) in neighbourhoods all over Toronto. The goal was to celebrate Toronto as a city of neighbourhoods by uniting its artists and its audiences in one week of exciting stories.

In 2014, The Playwright Project will appear in a single neighbourhood. The Danforth is home to some of the most exciting artists and audiences in Toronto. The Playwright Project plans to draw attention to one neighbourhood that is often underrated, and featuring it as a destination community for great theatre.  Four of Toronto’s most thrilling theatre companies will stage the works of Caryl Churchill over two weeks.

Per the program, "'s a political & feminist play..." but I thought it was more about human nature--reverting back to the same hangups; history repeating. Good acting. Very intimate venue on The Danforth.
