SHAKESPEARE IN HIGH PARK 2012: A Midsummer Night's Dream (PWYC)

Join us for an outdoor production of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare under the stars at Canadian Stage's 30th annual Dream in High Park.

Please note if it rains, snows or there is a tsunami, this event will be moved to an evening performance on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream follows the adventures of four enchanted lovers and a group of amateur actors as they make their way through a moonlit forest inhabited by mischievous fairies. It will be directed by award-winning director Richard Rose,  recent recipient of the Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts and the current artistic director of the acclaimed Tarragon Theatre, For more information:

Seats will be available, but they will go quickly so you may want to bring your own lawn chair or blanket to sit on. You may also want to bring along a picnic to munch on while watching the show! Food, beverages and blankets will be available for purchase at the site.

WHEN: Saturday, July 21, 2012

TIME: Show starts at 8 p.m. Meet Belinda at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: High Park Amphitheatre
1873 Bloor Street West
Toronto, Ontario

PRICE: Pay What You Can (PWYC). The theatre prefers you pay at least $20, but you can ignore the $20 signs on the collection boxes because PWYC means you can pay any amount. On average our members pay $10 when attending a PWYC performance and some pay as little at $5.

Pay cash at the amphitheatre gate on the performance date. Call Canadian Stage at (416)[masked] if you have any questions. Automated information is also available at extension 8. Seating is unreserved so we will enter the amphitheatre together and sit together as a group.

Meet Belinda at 6:30 p.m. at the amphitheatre gate, just before you enter to pay for your ticket. Belinda is very short and will be wearing a bright pink cap.

If you're taking public transit, it is a good 20-minute walk from the High Park station to the amphitheatre so wear your walking shoes!

To reach the theatre, enter the park from Bloor Street and follow Colborne Lodge Drive inside the park to the amphitheatre gate. Please note High Park Avenue is on the north side and Colborne Lodge Drive is on the south side at the Bloor Street park entry point.

Seating is unreserved so members will enter the seating area together and sit together as a group.

This meetup is being jointly hosted by Thumbs Up Theatre Toronto, the GTA Arts & Entertainment Meetup and Tea, Tea and More Tea Meetup.

GATHERING AFTER SHOW: Members will go out for a snack at Mackenzie's High Park at 1982 Bloor Street West after the show. If you become separated from the group at the High Park amphitheatre, head to Mackenzie's and ask for Belinda's table. You can view the menu here:

Terrific production. Best I've ever seen at High Park. Fun direction and staging and great comic acting. Love the new sound system that made the lines audible. An enjoyable gathering afterwards at Mackenzie's High Park. A warm welcome to first-time attendees Donna and her daughter Tiffany, Flo, Kate x 2, Liza, Natasha, Una and her friend Carol, Yulian and guest Jessie. A special welcome to our friends who joined us from the Tea, Tea and More Tea Group and GTA Arts & Entertainment Meetup. Welcome back to Downtown Dan.
