Every Thursday night New York City galleries from Soho to Chelsea throw opening receptions for their artiste du jour. Throngs of art aficionados make the mad two hour dash between galleries, throwing back mediocre glasses of wine and scarfing down fistfulls of salted peanuts. And while the art is sometimes less than exciting the scene never is. Solo contemplation of a Munch watercolor is fine, but gallery hopping is best done in the company of others. So every week we'll put together a list of the most promising openings, meet at a designated spot, and let the hop begin. Afterwards we'll hit a local bar/restaurant to discuss how wonderful or god awful the night's openings were.
