Every Thursday night galleries from Soho to Chelsea open their doors with the works of the artiste du jour. Starting at 6:00 PM hundreds of art aficionados make the mad dash between galleries, taking in the exhibitions, throwing back mediocre glasses of wine, and scarfing down tiny crust-less sandwiches. And while the art is sometimes less than exciting the scene never is. Solo contemplation of a 20 foot abstract impasto is fine but gallery hopping is best done in the company of others. So every week we'll put together a list of the best openings, meet at a designated spot, and let the hop begin. Afterwards, for those so inclined, we'll hit a local bar to discuss how wonderful or god awful the night's openings were.
