Every cell in the human body has receptors for thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone is responsible for setting your body's metabolism, or BMR. Thyroid hormone is intricately related to every system in your body, and there are many causes of dysfuction, but not many solutions. Medical management for thyroid disorders typically involves thyroid hormone replacement to keep TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) within normal range. Often, this does little to resolve thyroid symptoms and people become frustrated and hopeless. I want to offer hope to you, because I have found it myself.
I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The most common cause of hypothyroidism in the US is autoimmune disease, a condition called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Medical doctors rarely test for this condition, as it does not change their treatment. I have found that immune support is the best way to control my thyroid symptoms, and I would like to share what I know with you!
This is a support group for those of us that have thyroid problems, as well as a place to discuss alternative solutions. Please let me help you find out what is really causing your thyroid symptoms, and help you find a solution!
