Meet other people interested in Zen Meditation. Zen is not a path of devotion, nor opposed to any faith--just sitting in silence with others and watching the breath. Our initial goal is to learn to live in the moment by experiencing a deepening of our concentration over time. Any person who would like to experience the beauty, peace and connectedness of just sitting in silence with other people is encouraged to come and sit with us. After you come for the first time, there is no need to RSVP to Meetup. Once you know where we are, all you have to do is show up.
The extent of commitment is personal to each individual. The first time you attend a sit, you are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early if that's possible. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and leave your shoes outside of the entrance door to the zendo
Cold Mountain Sangha is presently based at Rutgers University on the Livingston campus in Piscataway in Tillett Hall, Room 107, on Monday evenings and in Lucy Stone Hall, Rm B-103, on Wednesdays, Fridays and every other Saturday morning. Beginner nights are Monday and Friday. We have a wonderful teacher who has been practicing Zen for more than 35 years and if you would like to learn more about him and our sangha, please visit coldmountainzen.org. You are welcome to attend any sit at any of our locations.
For questions concerning any of our sits at any location you may call 908-403-1851. Once you have attended for the first time, don't have to rsvp Meetup. You can just arrive. If for some reason a sit is cancelled, you will receive an email.
