This is definitely one of the top places you have to see and photograph. The largest concentration of blooming Rhododendrons in the world will be on display in the 2nd week of June. I am inviting anyone who would like to join me for this excursion to Roan Mountain. I will be starting from Carver's Gap and hiking 1 mile to Jane Bald where I will setup camp. This is an easy hike but to get sunrise means you have to bring your tent, food, and water besides your camera gear. I will also be working on some timelapse photography because this location offers some amazing scenes when there are clouds rolling thru the valley. Weather and temperature is very unpredictable at this location, you can have clear sunrise and the next moment be covered in fog. This is not a workshop but I will be available to help with any questions. I assume if you RSVP that you would have all the necessary equipment. The drive from Northern Virginia is about 8 hours and I'll be leaving Friday morning and returning after sunrise on Monday. This is a spectacular location for photographers; it is relatively unknown so if you are up to it, you won't be disappointed!
