Photographing America Crown Jewels - Glacier National Park

Workshop cost is $900. Initial $300 deposit is to reserve your space.

An epic 7-days adventure starts here in one of America’s premier National Parks. Glacier lies in rare beauty during late September to mid October as fall foliage colors descends onto her maples, larches, cottonwoods and aspens. Maple trees dot the hiking trails and turn to hues of yellow, orange and red. The larches and aspens turn to bright yellows and gold often set in a carpet of Montana’s huckleberry bushes. These trees are often mixed among the evergreens, so the foliage displays the brilliant reds and golds juxtaposed against the greens of the conifers and crowned by the auburns, greys, and tans of the limestone and dolomite snow covered peaks.

All the hotels within the park are closed at this time so we’ll be staying outside of the park, mainly on east side towns of East Glacier Park and St. Mary. Glacier is a huge park so it will involve a lot driving, however, during this time of season, driving around the perimeter of the park offers incredible views of pristine colors against the backdrops of snow cover peaks. The famous alpine road, Going to the Sun Road, is suppose to close on the 3rd week of October, so barring a major snow storms, it should still be open during our tour.

Toughness Index:

This will all depend on the group capabilities. We will go over as a group how much everyone can handle. There are some great hikes that are 5-6 miles round trip and there are many shorter hikes that are accessible for everyone.

Added Bonus:

Attendees will get two free days of post processing class after the trip. No processing will be done during the actual trip but you are more than welcome to bring your laptop and work on your free time. Days are getting shorter at this time of the year, and the sun lies further to the south and cast a soft light all day long, which will allow us to shoot most of the day.

Book your flight now! DO NOT WAIT! This is the itinerary that I would suggest for everyone to follow so we can all arrive together. The cheapest flight available now is out of BWI for $569.00. All flights out of Reagan and Dulles are $[masked] more expensive.

Xavier and I had a fantastic week at Glacier! Mother nature threw us some gut wrenching experiences from sunny days on our arrival, changing over to snow, fierce wind, rain, hail and sometimes just bitter cold. It definitely tested your mental capacity but we just kept going, and going, until by the end of the week we did close to 40 miles of hiking. The scenery was amazing, being able to witness what we saw was just exhilarating and to come home with our images can only reminds us how beautiful Glacier was in October. Unfortunately, images on this meetup site is sorely lacking, so if you like to see high resolution images from the this trip, you can follow this link below.

I totally am ready to say yes; however, I know that I cannot hike that far. Montana has been our favorite escape. We have gone during the first three weeks of October - fabulous photographic opportunities including some beautiful snows.
