Stranger Challenge:

  • March 6, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

For this challenge, get a little outside of your comfort zone... walk around with the intention of photographing tourists being tourists, locals being locals, or anything in between. Obviously respectfully request to take the person's photo. Enjoy and can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Anytime from now until then! We present a "challenge" to the group, then individually have a little fun with it and meet two weeks later to present what we've come up with to the group. We request that you print your photographs on 8x10 paper. Looking forward to having you participate!

The idea is to take portraits (a somewhat generic term, which is fine) of a stranger or group of strangers. I'd say a semi-loose rule is that you've known them for 5 minutes or less. You can even tell people that you're a tourist or whatever.

    Some ideas:
    People at bars
    Shopkeepers
    Street workers
    Cops
    Tourists

If you can get a little story about the person after taking your photo(s), it would be great if you can share the story with the photo too!

      Few more ideas:
      Hipsters
      Drag Queens
People who need their portraits taken (craigslist?)
      Surfers
Whatever!!! There are thousands of people in your neighborhood, go introduce yourself to a couple of random ones and tell them you're doing an art project! If you get rejected, try to learn something and try again!
