• 19:30 Welcome

• 19:40 Talks

• 20:40 More drinks, Q&A etc.

Talk #1: Phil Mander
Backbase Case Study

Phil is a Web Architect at Backbase. Backbase's Portal product aggregates widgets (packaged web apps) into one seamless user experience on the desktop. Backbase just started using Titanium to develop hybrid mobile applications, that use the portal, with a mix of the existing web content and dedicated native components. Phil will give a quick tour of the framework they developed with Titanium and talk about the pros and cons of the approach and the problems they faced.

Talk #2: Jakub Gadkowski
Rapid Prototyping

Undecided for a long time on what platform should he choose, after attending in 2013 Fokke's talk about Alloy Jakub was completely sold on Titanium.

The talk is sponsored by the word ‘save’. Save time, save money, save your client’s nerves, save your sanity. Do prototypes. Using tools that come right with your laptop or can be found around the internet for free you will be able to make prototypes that look and behave like real apps. Even if you are not a developer, or have just started with Titanium don’t stay at home, pop round and see with your own eyes that making prototypes is as easy as getting your cat to ignore you.

Maybe for before (pizza) or after (beer): I like to use http://socket.io/ in my App , someone any experience?

    September 2

    • Nick den E.

Hi Oscar, i tried it myself. Managed to get it working locally in the simulator. In production it failed. Didn't investigate any further. But i think the problem was that my socket.io cluster was behind a router/loadbalancer. Switched to Pusher.com afterwards.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
