On behalf of Toastmasters Evanston club officers and members, welcome! We’re thrilled you share a desire to improve communication and leadership skills!
We invite you to attend one or two meetings as a guest to get a feel for our club and decide if it’s the place for you to practice the skills you came to develop.
I encourage you to get to know our club officers, talk with them about your goals and enlist their help to get involved in club activities. If you have not already, please submit your information here and visit Toastmasters Member Experience to learn about membership benefits and expectations.
We really appreciate your interest in our club!

What to Expect During a Meeting
Energy, friendliness and punctuality are hallmarks of Toastmasters Evanston meetings. You will be warmly welcomed by our club officers and members. We encourage you to mingle with anyone in attendance and share your feedback with officers.
Punctuality is appreciated so speakers are not distracted and meetings start/end on time. Remember to turn off any noise making devices.
Toastmasters meetings share similar elements, but have their own unique feel and cadence at each club. This is why we suggest you get to know our club before making a commitment.
Meetings generally consist of prepared speeches and Table Topics (opportunities to practice impromptu speaking). Everything is evaluated so we know what goes well and where to improve. A minute of silence after each prepared speech allows for each person in attendance to jot down a couple pieces of feedback for the speaker. Use a note card to write your thoughts and place them in the appropriate folder going around the room.
See Meeting Roles for an explanation of the different ways members participate in successful meetings.
The VP of Membership will be available before and after the meeting to discuss joining and take applications.
Most importantly, relax, observe and have fun!
Toastmasters Evanston membership fees are $50 every six months.
New members pay an additional, one-time new member fee of $20 which includes Competent Communication (CC) and Competent Leadership (CL) manuals. Proration of some fees may occur - see the new member application for a prorated dues schedule.
Preferred method of payment is by check to: Toastmasters Evanston. Speak with a club officer for other payment options and to confirm a prorated cost to join.
