Meeting # 51 : Faith

“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.”  --Saint Augustine

To have faith is to defy logic. It takes faith to think positively. It takes faith to believe that there is a loving God who cares deeply about our pain. To believe in life, the universe, or ourselves after numerous failures is to have courage.

Faith is an act of courage. It is choosing to get up in the morning and face our fears and believe that God will help us. Faith is choosing to believe that even though we may have failed one hundred times before that we can succeed the next time.

Welcome to the euphoric and energetic 51st meeting of Indiranagar PRIDE.

A Toastmasters meeting is divided into three sections.

The first one is called 'Prepared Speeches' wherein members deliver speeches crafted to specifically meet objectives set out from various manuals. These objectives focus on perfecting one skill at a time - the skills ranging from body language, vocal variety to research to persuading and inspiring an audience.

The second section is called Table Topics which involves impromptu speeches. A Table Topic Master gives out topics to various members from the audience and the latter attempts to speak on the topic without any preparation. This section improves your ability to think on your feet and communicate random ideas clearly to an audience.

The last section is called Evaluation. The prepared speeches delivered earlier are evaluated against the objectives and the speaker is given appreciation on strengths and feedback on areas of improvement. The evaluation section also covers feedback on the general ethics, meeting etiquette, camaraderie and scope for improvement.

Each meeting is a learning experience on its own.

Guests are welcome. Please arrive on time.
