Hey all! It was great to see some of you out in the open for our Mega Hanami! No Movie, but sure as heck every bit as fun!!

Our next film was requested by Kelly, and comes hot off the Academy Award nominations into Japan: Moon is a sci-fi drama about a man on the moon contracted by the company Lunar Industries to extract helium-3 from lunar soil for much-needed clean energy back on Earth. The film stars Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey.

Date: Saturday April 10th, 2010
Meeting Time: 1.30pm (Screening runs for about 105 mins)
Venue: Ebisu Garden Cinemas

Here's a link to a map of the cinema. To get there, take the Ebisu Skywalk Travelators (On the right as you exit JR Ebisu Station via the East Ticket Gates) which will get you to Ebisu Garden Place. The Cinemas will be to the left side of this area, towards the rear. Walk to the LEFT side of the area opening down into down into the lower atrium (Do NOT go down) whilst passing the clothing boutique on your left, you should come by the cinema after about a 100 or so meters. We should be waiting just slightly outside if the weather isn't too cold, otherwise, check the foyer inside. (If still unsure, please check the map and follow signs to get there).

Tickets will be 1500 yen (1600 yen all up with meetup fee) and will be bought for those who RSVP 'YES' by 6pm Friday the 9th of April. Tickets will be 1800yen on the day for adults, provided the show is not sold out. Please keep in mind that pre-purchased tickets are NOT refundable once they are purchased and if you do not show, you will still be liable to pay for them. (Unfortunately, this also includes being ill) Any late RSVPs - I cannot guarantee your ticket for you. If you haven't attended one of our meetups before, please CALL me with your Keitai and introduce yourself prior to my purchasing tickets for you. I cannot allocate a ticket to you unless you do this.

Note that Ebisu Garden Cinemas does not provide reserved seating, but a numbered priority list for entry at about 1.35pm or so - the earlier you come, the more seats you have to choose from.

***Another Important Note***-
Should you expect to be late, please me WELL BEFORE the screening time and I 'may' be able to leave your ticket at the usher's counter (Not ticket box). No guarantees though. My number is[masked] and email is: wyekhe_kwok(at)i_softbank_jp (Replace the (at) with @ and underscores _ with .)

The finishing time for the movie will be 3.30pm or so and we'll be heading somewhere close for food and drink after (quite possibly the Ebisu Beer Station).

As always, if you are unsure whether or not you'll be able to attend, please RSVP 'No' with a comment stating this.

Movie Synopsis:
It is the near future. Astronaut Sam Bell is living on the far side of the moon, completing a three-year contract with Lunar Industries to mine Earth's primary source of energy, Helium-3. It is a lonely job, made harder by a broken satellite that allows no live communications home. Taped messages are all Sam can send and receive. Thankfully, his time on the moon is nearly over, and Sam will be reunited with his wife, Tess, and their three-year-old daughter, Eve, in only a few short weeks. Finally, he will leave the isolation of "Sarang," the moon base that has been his home for so long, and he will finally have someone to talk to beyond "Gerty," the base's well-intentioned, but rather uncomplicated computer.
