Hello Everyone,

Good and exciting news!

Tony and Nami has offered to host our April, Hanami gathering.

Unfortunately, I will be missing this event as I won't be in Tokyo in April.  I will be away facilitating a holistic living food detox/retreat program in Bali for a whole month.  How exciting!

If I don't see you in March, I will see you in May.  = )

xoxo,

Reyna

Message from our Dear hosts Tony and Nami:

We (Tony & Nami) are hosting for April Raw Foods Vegan house party in beautiful, if not very trendy,,, Ogikubo on Chuo & Marunochi lines. I will meet people at 1430 at Ogikubo Station East Gate South side by elevator entrance.

You can also separately join the group party which will start at 17:00 near Ogikubo, 1-chome, access Ogikubo station. We can accommodate 12 people in a mid 80's style house atmosphere with 2 sofas, full kitchen & even a piano and chandelier. There may also be 2 very good Japanese acoustic guitar players we have invited.

There is 500 yen participation fee, a portion of which goes to support the raw vegan website and also we will have some fun door prize raffle (someone will surely win their money back in prizes) The food theme is "Spring has Sprung" so different salads, veggies with dips and similar lite dishes or deserts. Salads should have dressing separate. No oil is preferred but not required. Remember this is still the raw foods group so get creative. We will have a big pot of genmai & Paper bowls & plates & forks/spoons available. We have a vegetable steamer available, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and Braggs soyu replacement. Nori seaweed.

All alcoholic beverages (beer, umeshu, chu-hi, organic wine, etc.) are BYO. We have bottled water and tea. Fruits are always welcome. See photos of past events on this site for ideas. Don't worry, will send full instruction, map, etc to participants in advance.

Foods to avoid:

Tofu, raw beans and legumes, white sugar, agave, white rice, can foods, soda, bottled sugary drinks, bottled fruit juices, coffee, and the like.

This is very healthy group but we have a newborn so if sick (pollen allergy is OK)  please excuse yourself from coming, even last minute, we will understand. More location details will follow to participants still registered on Friday.

Closing time is around 21:00.

Due to lack of interest in the walking tour starting at Minami Asagaya I am going to change details and I will be at Ogikubo station at 1630. Please Go to East gate, south side and I will look for you by the elevator entrance. Then will lead everyone that is there to meetup.

I can probably meet you at Minami Asagaya at 16:00, but if I can't will you be waiting at Ogikubo station at 17:00?

    April 4, 2013

    • Colin

I just got back from abroad, and I have no proper accommodation yet, meaning no kitchen to "prepare" anything. I was planning on bringing some varieties of fruit and maybe some basic vegies.

      April 5, 2013

    • Tony

That is fine, I think you should just bring vegetables that can be eaten raw or dipped if that is OK. I think there will be other people bringing fruit. We have a quick steamer and can lightly steam or even have the stuff to wash them.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for this weekend does not sound encourraging. It says it'll start to rain around 3 pm tomorrow, which will get really hard around 9 pm. Though I don't trust it 100%, it may be a good idea to finish up a little earier than planned.

I'm thinking of making raw mini pizza now.

    April 3, 2013

    • Hiroko

It's simple raw crackers made of sunflower seeds, flax seeds, dried tomatoes, etc. topped with veggies. Good as a starter.

      April 4, 2013

    • Tony

Thanks for the details, this sounds delicious

I am not certain yet what I will make. I am thinking about some dips such as baba ganoush (egg plants) and avocado/sweet basil. My friend who is not vegan asked me if it was OK to bring a bottle of organic wine!
