January Topanga Wordpress Meetup

Join us for our monthly Topanga WordPress Meetup at a new time from 6:30-8:30. The library has graciously allowed us to extend our meeting 30 minutes so we will now start at 6:30pm. All users are invited to attend this meeting to share, collaborate and discuss all things Wordpress.

TOPICS AND SPEAKERS

I'VE BEEN HACKED, NOW WHAT? WORDPRESS SECURITY 101

Andrew Behla from Behla Design + Web Development will discuss his experiences of being hacked countless times, and what he's learned along the way to prepare when disaster strikes. He will cover backing up and restoring a WordPress site, along with plugins and solutions to prevent hacking from occurring. Finally he will discuss dedicated wordpress hosting and why you might consider a more robust solution to protect your site.

BOOSTING WORDPRESS PERFORMANCE ON A BUDGET

Andy Roberts from Note 15 and Booktrope will discuss how you can improve WordPress hosting on the cheap. He will share low cost shared hosting options and how performance can be optimized with a free CDN/edge server and other free performance enhancements.

Very informative. Presenters did a great job of slowing it down for the "noobs" (myself included)

Best practices to migrate from a dev site to production is a topic I'd be particularly interested in. Thanks.

How to get new clients is one that I am currently interested in. Top ten plugins is another. And how do you handle back-ups is yet another.

Sorry about the previous Meetup announcement, I realized that it had the wrong month in the title and didn't want to confuse anyone!

We will continue to meet on the Third Thursday of each month. Please offer any suggestions on topics you'd like to see covered for the next meetup.
