Our honored Walk Guest Joyce Foster wrote, "As a candidate for State Senate District 35, I believe listening to the concerns of voters is imperative to being an effective leader. I hope to walk with all of you and learn about what concerns you, for more information on my candidacy please visit http://www.joycefoste...."
Do you live in Colorado State Senate District #35? Here's a link to the map for this district - http://comaps.org/dis....
Topic-Talk Walks' (TTW) Co-Founder and Walk Host for this walk, Fran Rew, said, "I have had several opportunities to watch Joyce's endearing, welcoming, and enlightening communication style in the Denver City Council, and at the Denver Regional Council of Governments' meetings about transportation demand. What a joy to be able to share a walk with her!"
And it is even a Sunday afternoon walk - at last!! Crestmoor Park is near Monaco and Alameda, and our get-together location is north of the tennis courts and Locust Street parking in a small forest of trees with picnic tables underneath the shade of the trees. Click here for correct link to the map for parking area location. The picnic area is north of this parking area.
We are also very fortunate to have the opportunity to share this walk with an impromptu Walk Guest, Eldon Van Der Wege. Fran asked Joyce if she could recommend someone to walk with us who could help members of the walking audience who expressed an interest, an opportunity to explore compare and understand the "single payer" proposal for a State run health insurance for all. Eldon will introduce himself at the beginning of the walk, and be available for a sitting picnic discussion on this topic after the walk. Eldon has an MBA, from the University of Colorado. He is also a Member of Health Care for all Colorado. He has the experience of being a retired Unemployment Insurance Liability Manager for the Colorado Department of Labor & Employment. Eldon has been a resident of Colorado for over 55 years.
The walk will begin at 2:15 p.m. During the first 5 minutes of the walk, we'll walk from the Crestmoor picnic area to the playground and restroom area at a pace that accommodates the slowest walkers in the group. Fran will invite those who identify themselves as the slow walkers, to have the first opportunity to express in 2 or 3 sentences the topic or issue they'd most like to share with Joyce. When our walking group reaches the playground area, Fran will encourage the slow walkers to talk with Joyce and other picnic visitors again back at the picnic area when the picnic starts at 3:00 p.m. The remaining 25 minutes of the walking group conversation will be at a medium walking pace. After the 30-minute TTW walk, the faster walkers have the opportunity to get together and use their TTW walk as a warm-up for their faster walk together.
Joyce is hosting a campaign picnic from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in this Crestmoor Picnic #1 area. Delicious hot dogs will be served by a delightful hot dog vendor.
