Until two generations ago, the Bible was the central text in American life. The Bible was well known and understood by our founding Fathers. To this day, the insignia of Yale University is the breastplate of Israel's High Priest, in Hebrew no less. Over a brief span of time, our society has become Biblically illiterate and as a result, this meetup is a quest to help bring back understanding of the word. Hi, I started this meetup because I wanted to expose people to the Holy Scriptures of God and encourage and inspire people in study of them for personal and corporate edification as well as application of their values to our daily lives. I view my role as a teacher, facilitator, and encourager in the pursuit of study of God's Word. I hold a dual Masters in Bible and Judaic studies, yet I am forever a student myself. All are welcome regardless of their level of comfort/exposure to the Scriptures. I hope to share the historical-cultural context through which the Scriptures were inspired and written, clarify misconceptions, and nurture growth in knowledge of our timeless Scriptures. We meet on Saturday morning for a time of fellowship and study of the Torah (First five books of Moses), the prophets and New Testament writings. I believe you can best learn when you are engaged and having fun, so I aspire to achieve that during our time together. All are welcome. No previous knowledge of the bible is required only an open heart to learn and help others learn. “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Tim 2:15. Please RSVP if you plan to attend as class size can determine room selection in our building.
