Annual Aussie Dog Show

The annual summer Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) conformation dog show for Aussies is back at Tee Creek on August 3 and 4!

As with prior years, there will also be all breed obedience, rally, agility and herding trials, what a fun event!!

I've set the meetup date for Saturday all day, but you can show up anytime/day you want and wander around and enjoy the events.

**Only Aussies entered in the show allowed on the grounds, so this is a people-only event**

I likely won't be entering any of my Aussies in the show as I've been too busy with my recent move to get ready, but I will be there to watch for sure.

Hope to see some of my fellow Aussie-lovers at the show!  :-)

What a fun day! Scads of the best and smartest Australian Shepherds competing in conformation, herding, agility, rally-o and obedience. Photography was not allowed due to an issue that came up after last year's event, so although I took a couple of candid snaps just to practice with my new camera, I won't be able to post any on this site. So next year you'll have to come out to see all the action in person!! :-)

Anyone interested in a herding instinct type of test should have a look at the Tee Creek web page, at the bottom. You would have to register via TeeCreek (i.e., pressing the 'yes' rsvp on meetup will NOT enter you in the test!!). :-)

On Monday August 5, there is a "herding capability test" under AHBA rules. This is harder than the Canadian herding instinct test in that it requires 2 runs and the dog must be able to demonstrate a recall and a stop/stand/sit/stay while in the arena with the sheep. The second run is harder because this must be done off leash. The first run is at least on a long line so it 'might' be possible, lol! The second run also requires that the sheep are driven to a certain point in the arena.

I "might" enter Ditto. I'm not sure if he would perform recall or a sit in the ring with the sheep though, haha! You can find the AHBA rules here:

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
