Half Way Point -Wind Up Bird Chronicle (300 pages) by Haruki Murakami

Hello Brookies!

It is time for our 5th Meetup and half way point (300 pages) for our current novel. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is 600 pages and therefore it was decided to meet up halfway to make sure everyone is still interested in this novel.

Here is a background article about the book and author for anyone interested. Thanks to Moses for this!

Please join us for a brunch on the garden patio at Caffe La Gaffe. Known for its French cuisine, it is a Toronto staple for over 18 years. The food is magnifique!

Nathan and his kitchen team have prepared a special menu for the Toronto Book and Brunch club. We will be sitting outside on the patio to take advantage of the summer weather! The total cost of the price fix menu including gratuity and taxes is $ 20.

Cafe La Gaffe has a great drink selection of cocktails and beers perfect for the patio weather for you to try but alcoholic drinks are not included in the price above.

Please come to the meeting with $ 20 cash and a discussion question.

We will be switching up the book selection as it does take time from our book discussion. On our poll tab, which you can find in the under the More tab, we will be listing 5 books that you can vote on for the next selection. The poll closes the day before the meetup.

If you do RSVP, please do not cancel last minute as there is usually a big waiting list and we can only limit these meetups to 25-30 people. Please be respectful to your fellow Brookies!

Let me know what everyone thinks about the book so far. Let's discuss it on twitter @booknbrunch! Follow us and get the reviews and discussion going!

See you all soon!

It was great to hear people's thoughts on the book, and to get some foodie tips! Only downside was my eggs were overcooked.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
