The Toronto Area Beginner Guitar Class is a Meetup Group for everyone who's excited about learning to play the guitar.
We offer several affordable beginner group classes every Sunday at Find A Way Music's School and professional recording studios, 75 Sherbourne St, in downtown Toronto. Every class will always provide a focused lesson involving an exercise and/or song you can practice at home, with handouts and music to take home, and of course - the chance to meet, play, and have fun with fellow beginner guitarists!
After each class, participants get the opportunity to use Find A Way's professional downtown recording studio as a group rehearsal space, to practice more of what you've learned together and get to know each other better.
Every month we book the Free Times cafe for a guitar social and a concert featuring the Toronto Guitar School and artists connected with Mint Music. Come out to perform yourself or get inspired by an evening full of some of the best live entertainment Toronto has to offer. All for the low price of $5-7 per person.
Every month the Toronto Guitar School also offers its professional studio space at Mint Music for a free guitarists’ meetup — come out to meet new people who are at your skill level, chat, jam, and enjoy the studio atmosphere, where so much music magic gets made!

Also, if you miss up to 2 classes from the course, we will give you credit to attend any other drop-in Beginner Class of your choice over the next two months. That is, you can bank 2 missed classes from the course and use them to attend 2 other drop-in group guitar classes for free.
REGULAR DROP-IN GROUP CLASSES: Sunday Afternoons
We hold two regular classes, hosted and organized by experienced guitar instructor Matthew Hayter, along with special guest instructors when noted. LEVEL 1 is for learning and practicing beginner basics, and LEVEL 2 is for those who are ready to expand a little bit into the next level of styles, techniques, and music theory.
BEGINNER DROP-IN GROUP CLASS - LEVEL 2:
- Sundays from 2:45pm-3:45pm at Find A Way Studios.
For the player who has already learned a few things, but is excited to take it further. In these classes we will focus on expanding the basic skills and knowledge - like learning more about applying different chords, keys, and scales; playing more complicated rhythms and styles; and anything else the group might want to explore. In this class we'll also work on playing some songs as a group, because music is so much more fun when you can play with others!
BEGINNER DROP-IN GROUP CLASS - LEVEL 1:
- Sundays from 1:30pm-2:30pm at Find A Way Studios.
For the brand new guitarist, these classes will focus on the very-very basics. We'll get you oriented with how to understand the frets, how to place your fingers, how to strum and count rhythm, and we will learn some simple riffs chord progressions and songs to play along together - all the fun stuff you need in order to start your guitar adventure.
FREE REHEARSAL SPACE
After each class, there will be studio space available where you can practice, rehearse, and play with your fellow guitarists. This is a great opportunity to meetup with others and learn to play together.
There is free parking for our Sunday Group Guitar Classes. Please email or call ahead so we can reserve parking spaces and/or have someone there to meet you when you arrive. Please remember to display a Find A Way postcard on the dashboard of your car so security knows who you are. If you don't already have a postcard one will be given to you when you arrive. For more information, please see the "Parking Instructions for Find A Way Studios" page under the Pages tab in this Meetup site.
Find A Way is an accessible space. Please message or call to arrange for us to help you locate and enter at the alternate the wheelchair accessible entrance. 416 707 1077.
GUITAR SALES AND RENTALS
Find A Way Music School - where we host our Group Classes - can help you buy or rent a guitar. At Find A Way, owner Glen Alan will give you the personalized attention, expert advice, and ongoing support you can only get from a small business, at prices equal to the big name music stores (like Steve's or Long & McQuade).
Find A Way is a Toronto based Music School, Recording Studio and Music Store with 3 locations in the GTA. Our beginner guitar meetup classes take place in our downtown music school and recording studio, located at 75 Sherbourne Street, Suite 323, Toronto, ON M5A 2P9.
The outside door of the building is locked on the weekend and after 6pm on weekdays so someone will need to let you in the building if you come at that time. If someone isn't at the door when you arrive simply call 416-707-1077 and we will be right there to let you in and take you up to the 3rd floor. Remember even if the outside door is open the elevator still requires a key card to go to the 3rd floor during these times.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
