What is the  Toronto Photography Group all About?

There are many workshop groups in the city of Toronto. The Toronto Photography group has been one of the most successful since its inception in 2011 running on average 2-3 workshops per week throughout the year.

Our mission, is to enlighten and inspire the creativity within our city, have fun shooting and build friendships within the photography community while promoting imaging and photographic skills and education to all that are interested.

Through careful examination of our goals to help the expansion of digital media in the city, we have become a registered not-for-profit.

Membership to the group is free, and easily accessible, people become members by signing up to any event or workshop on our meetup page.

The West Toronto Photography Group has created two mirror groups (The Toronto Photography Group and East Mississauga Photography Group) to focus on the sense of community and fostered friendships by bringing together almost 900 (…878 and counting) photographers from throughout the GTA.

We assist people in building their own careers, many members in the community don’t have formal training we offer hands on experience in a professional environment.

For some members photography is simply a creative outlet, a hobby something that helps them achieve balance in their life, TTPG provides a space to connect with others who share the same interest.

Who Should Attend Our Workshops?

Whether you're a seasoned photographer looking to freshen up your portfolio, just starting out your career in photography, a hobbyist  or fine art artist who wants to learn some new skills. All our workshops are comfortably structured to suit all levels.

Sessions range from beauty to portraits, fashion to glamour and nudes to fine art. Each session will be structure in three levels. You can chose which level you feel is most suited to your style, creative goal and budget. The workshops are structured but are easy going. Participants are always encouraged to chat with other photographers, ask questions of the instructors and share their images on meetup for critique and exposure.

Level 1: Beginner

This level is suited for those individuals who are just starting out and need guidance setting up their camera and understanding lighting and a professional studio space. These sessions are also the most cost conscious for individuals wanting good building block images for their portfolios on a budget.

Level 2: Intermediate

This level is perfect for those who are looking for more refined images. Wardrobe, makeup, model and the lighting are more advanced helping to create a more polished image. Photographers should be very comfortable with their DSLR settings and be able to be more creative and need less assistance in posing the model.

Level 3: Advanced

This level is geared to create stunning images for your portfolio. Whether a beginner or pro we will ensure that you walk away with some truly stunning photos. These are most times the most expensive workshops as the talent involved are top quality, styling is on point and the lighting much more refined. There are fewer sets typically and may involve more than 1 model per workshop.

No matter, what level you chose to create in, all participants are encouraged to bring tear sheets, pinterest boards, ideas and most importantly enthusiasm and creativity to make the image their own.
