Seeking Position with a Joint OCE Funding Application

From: Bart
Sent on: Thursday, August 26, 2010 6:57 PM
I am seeking a position with an Ontario based company in a field
related to my research, which is interested in submitting a joint
application to the Center Of Excellence "First Job" program, with the
current round of applications open until September 15th. The program
covers up to 50% of a new hire's first year salary, up to $40,000.

In September, I will be graduating from Ryerson University with a MSc
Degree in Computer Science, concentrating on Semantic Technologies,
specifically Semantic Integration and Machine Learning.

My Resume can be found online:

I have been a professional developer for the past 10 years, focusing
on web technologies for the past 4 years, specifically Ruby and the
Ruby on Rails framework, and 2 years with various Semantic Web
technologies and tools. I am also an active member of the Toronto
Semantic Web Meetup Group. I enjoy working with information, and
structured data in new and innovative ways, focusing on the Semantic
Web. I am very interested in the emerging technologies, specifically
for the internet, on both the development and information side. As an
active member of the developer community in Toronto, in my 4 years as
a Web Application Consultant focusing on Ruby on Rails, I have had a
chance to join the conversation as the Rails framework has evolved,
and how it has impacted the technologies we use to interact with
users, and use it to bring new and exciting services to them. I have
worked on projects which included heavy media and data driven systems,
and effective AJAX driven applications.

As a Senior Research Associate in the Ubiquitous and Pervasive
Computing Lab at Ryerson University, I have been involved in
developing many prototypes for browser and mobile platforms. I have
experience presenting my work to both academic and industrial
partners, in the form of presentations, demos, and while engaging in
brainstorming sessions. As an analyst, I have experience working
closely with clients and endusers to design applications which suit
their needs.

From 200 to 2007, I was a Solutions Developer at Toronto Dominion
Bank, working with various data driven systems.

If anyone would like to contact me about this OCE opportunity, please
don't hesitate call or email me.

Thank you.
