Intro to VermiComposting
2PM - 4PM
Cost for Workshop: $20
Cost for Worm Composting Kit: $20
Transforming food waste into nutritious fertilizer for the soil is easy through the process of VermiComposting, or Worm Composting. By collaborating with Red Wriggler worms, masses of waste can be diverted from the landfill, while producing fertilizer of the highest quality for our indoor and outdoor plants. Learn from The Cutting Veg Organic Farm the basics of VermiComposting, and make your ecological footprint a positive one. This workshop will include everyone making their own VermiComposter (Indoor Worm bin) to take home. This is a quick and simple process, and the VermiComposters will be ready to use right away.
Payment Due With RSVP [2 options]
The fee for the workshop is $20. If you would like to go home with a worm kit the cost is an additional $20. Please be sure to submit payment for the workshop and/or worm kit in advance by Thursday May 14th, 2009. You can pay online via PayPal or interac money transfer to [masked]. For other payment methods please contact Laurie by e-mail. In the event there is a waiting list for this workshop you may be removed from the RSVP list on Thursday the 14th if we have not received your payment in order to allow other people the opportunity to attend.
More About The Cutting Veg
The Cutting Veg (TCV) is a community-health promotion enterprise rooted in organic farming. TCV runs 4 programs aimed at promoting personal, social, environmental, and economic health. TCV grows a variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, which are sold at farmers markets, and through a Community Supported Agriculture box program.
In addition to produce sales, TCV runs the “Global Garlic Project.” Specifically, we grow over a dozen varieties of garlic from around the world, including Tibetan, Persian, Italian, Russian, Korean, and Israeli. TCV also provides Food Coaching Services, which offers garden & composting project support, educational workshops & urban farming internships, dietary & meal planning support, and food-career counselling.
Finally, TCV offers one-on-one “Wellness Counselling” for individuals who want to take steps forward with their health and happiness. Collectively, these programs are helping TCV towards the achievement of its quadruple bottom line: Personal health, Social health, Environmental health, and Economic health. TCV is owned and managed by Daniel Hoffmann.
Daniel is a Social Worker (BSW), Counsellor, and has been farming in B.C. and Ontario since 2000. For more information about The Cutting Veg, contact Daniel at ([masked], or [masked], or visit the website at www.thecuttingveg.com
