 arden\, window boxes on your balcony\, a dedicated plot in your backyard or
  have dreams of creating your own vegetable garden\, this event is for you!
 \n\nOn October 9th we have the great fortune of having Roberta Stimac\, fou
 nder of the Withrow Park Organic Farmer's Market and Seeds of Diversity Boa
 rd Member to speak with us about the many benefits of growing our own food.
 \n\nRoberta is a unique individual who is extremely educated (with a Master
 's Degree from York University) on this topic and who brings with her an un
 rivaled passion for gardening and food cultivation.  She is very much an ad
 vocate for the respect of food and more than willing to share her knowledge
  with our group.\n\nOver ales and appetizers (or dinner if you wish)\, Robe
 rta plans to craft a talk for our members that will involve:\n\n* A quick  
 overview of the food system\n* Why growing one's own food is an act of empo
 werment\n* A brief look into environmental activism \n* What you need to kn
 ow about harvesting seeds\n* Who to go to for the best seeds\n\nOn hand wil
 l be books for you to leaf through\, pictures to help illustrate various po
 ints and a hand-out for each of us to take-away.\n\nBring your questions\, 
 appetites and an eagerness to learn.  We'll kick off the night with a forma
 l talk by Roberta and at the half way point we'll switch into a free flowin
