Dr. Richard Peltier - A Pioneer in Climate Modelling!

  • May 8, 2012 · 6:30 PM

This Special Event is hosted by CLIMATE CHANGE Toronto.

Dr. Richard Peltier, University Professor of Physics at the University of Toronto and founding director of U of T's Centre for Global Change Science, is the 2011 winner of Canada's highest prize for science, the Gerhard Herzberg Canada Gold Medal for Science and Engineering. Dr. Peltier is a pioneer of "Earth Systems Science", the multi-disciplinary field that attempts to explain the whole functioning of the dynamic earth by looking at the complex interaction between things generally studied separately in geophysics, oceanography, atmospheric science, and more. In recent years, Dr. Peltier has been active in developing and validating the climate models that are being used to predict how our climate will respond to our increasing emissions of greenhouse gases.

I appreciated the professors balanced and comprehensible approach to his evidence presented.

Informative, giving the grand scope on the climate issue from historical to contemporary, scientific to political. A small-group follow-up after a meeting like this would make this kind of talk more effective and useful in helping those of us new to this subject digest the info and perhaps strategize forward.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
