I've kept journals on and off during my adult years, mostly to help me through some pretty tough times. Writing seems to bring things into focus for me - seeing my thoughts materialize on paper gives them a greater weight, makes them more real in a physical sense. I would really like to write a few short stories and maybe end up with enough to publish an anthology. Then, I'd like to tackle a novel. Then I could die happy.
I'd like to write short stories about life in all it's wondrous complexity - stories with pith and meaning, stories dripping with irony and univesal wisdom that, like Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (one of my literary heros). If that doesn't pan out then I'd just like to write some mildly humourous stories along the lines of Stephen Leacock.
Hi, I'm Peter, an aspiring writer who's been in the aspiring stage for so long, it's beginning to feel like the expiring stage. Hoping to write my first short story by the end of this year.
