Have you ever wished there was a sport that combined the heaviness of rocks, the fun of sweeping, and the excitement of sliding around on ice?
Well, there is!! It's called Curling and it's a popular sport in frozen countries like Canada.
And now, you have a chance to learn to curl with your TorontoBabel buddies!!
Join us on February 25th, 2012 from 1:30pm - 3:30pm as we learn to curl at the Cricket Club! For $35 you get all your equipment rentals, ice time, world-class instruction, and game playing!
If you get tired you can take a rest and have a beer in the bar while you watch your friends try to SWEEP and HURRY HARRRRRD (this will make sense after your lesson, trust me!)
Still not sure what curling is? check out some info here: http://www.mycurling....
There is a limit of 50 people who can come, so RSVP quick! First come, first served! Also, until you give me your $35 you are not officially registered to learn to curl, so do that fast too!
You can give me your $35 at any TorontoBabel event or you can use Paypal to pay.
To use Paypal, just go to http://www.paypal.com and send $35 to my email: [masked]
The Cricket Club is at Wilson Ave and Avenue Road.
The closest subway station is York Mills. Take the 96 Wilson bus west to Belgrave Ave (just a few minutes) or walk (about 15 minutes). The curling club is just across the street from Belgrave Ave.
There is a school right across the street from the Cricket Club where you can park for free. You can also park at the Cricket Club, but they charge for parking, so if you are driving, park at the school!
****WHAT TO WEAR****
Curling requires stretching a bit, so it's probably best not to wear jeans. Yoga pants or jogging pants are good. You are required to have a clean pair of running shoes to wear on the ice...you can't wear your shoes that you come in with, so make sure you bring a clean pair of shoes!
This sport is played on ice, so it's a little chilly (but not really cold), so wear a coat and bring mittens. You will get warm when you're curling though, so layers are a good idea!
It's going to be fun!
