We try to provide a fun, friendly, relaxed environment where you can practice speaking a new language and meet people from all over the world!
The idea of the group is that you give help to the group (helping those who are learning your native language) and you get help from the group (you are helped by others who speak the language you want to practice). This way everyone benefits!
We typically have native speakers of French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, German, Polish, Italian, Dutch, Turkish, Mandarin, Russian, Armenian, Arabic and many other languages.
Just introduce yourself to Beth and she will help you meet others who speak the language you want to practice. It's fun and FREE!
We get started at 7:30pm and the group is usually there until at least 11pm, but you can arrive and leave at whatever time you like.
If you have any comments, questions, problems, concerns or ideas, just talk to Beth about it. We will do our best to make sure you have a positive experience!

Welcome to TorontoBabel!
TorontoBabel is an international language exchange group that brings together native and non-native speakers of many different languages from various countries around the world.
The group provides a fun and relaxed atmosphere where you can practice speaking a new language and make new friends with people from all over the world completely for FREE!
The weekly meetings allow participants to keep practicing their second (or third, or fourth, etc...) language with lots of new people. We are a very diverse group with people coming from all over the world and speaking many different languages including Spanish, French, English, Portuguese, Korean, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian, Italian, Armenian, Arabic, Hebrew, Dutch, Cantonese, Hindi, and Turkish!
TorontoBabel is the first North American extension of the highly successful language exchange group based in Madrid, Spain called Madrid Babel.
TorontoBabel's language exchange night is called International Night and it takes place every Tuesday night at The Rivoli (334 Queen St. W - Queen and Spadina) starting at 7:30pm until around midnight.
Just introduce yourself to Beth (wearing a nametag, or ask the bartender to point her out to you) and she will help you to find others who speak the language you want to practice.
Everyone is welcome!

How to Babel:
1. Be open-minded!
We are a very diverse group. You'll meet people from all over the world. Enjoy the chance to have the international experience in Toronto!
2. Tip your bartender!
Although it's common not to tip in many cultures, it is very much a part of Canadian culture, so remember to leave a tip for your bartender, even if you buy a drink directly from the bar.
3. Ask Beth!
If you have any questions, concerns, problems or ideas, please talk to Beth about it!
