TorontoBabel: Toronto's International Language Exchange Meetup

OVERVIEW

We try to provide a fun, friendly, relaxed group where you can practice speaking a new language and meet people from all over the world!

Our gathering takes place in a bar environment, so there is usually music playing and we usually have about 100 people so it will be busy and bustling. With so many people speaking it can sometimes be a bit loud, but this is your chance to practice your language skills in a real-world context with real people!

HOW IT WORKS

The idea of the group is that you give help to the group (helping those who are learning your native language) and you get help from the group (you are helped by others who speak the language you want to practice).  This way everyone benefits!

We typically have native speakers of French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, German, Polish, Italian, Dutch, Turkish, Mandarin, Russian, Armenian, Arabic and many other languages.

When you arrive, just introduce yourself to Anna and Eduardo and they will introduce you to others who speak the language you want to practice to get you started. It's fun and FREE!

HOW LONG IT LASTS

We get started at 7:30pm and the group is usually there until at least 11pm, but you can arrive and leave at whatever time you like.

QUESTIONS?

If you have any comments, questions, problems, concerns or ideas, just talk to Anna or Eduardo about it.  We will do our best to make sure you have a positive experience!

Remember, this group is a hobby for us; we run it just for fun, we love it and we hope you will love it too!

The hosts were fantastic! Thanks for all the introductions! It was very easy to find someone to practice (French and Italian) with, because of them. I found the music level to be way too loud, and I though it negatively impacted the language exchange because it was difficult to hear people and I had to raise my voice a lot. I had a fun first night, and will definitely be returning. Cheers!

Hi Nadia, nice meeting you yesterday. We do ask the bar to turn the music down and will remind them for next time.

Hi everyone! I just joined this group but realised that this time won't work for me every week. Is there anyone who is interested in meeting up on a different evening just for a one on one or a smaller group language exchange? I'm seeking Spanish primarily, but also French and Arabic.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
