Our friend Ailis is looking for bilingual Spanish-English children for a university study. Do you know someone?
Here is her message:
"Are you interested in bilingual language acquisition? Me too! I'm doing my PhD on child language, right now I'm working on a study on bilingual children and I need help finding kids (and their parents) to participate!
Do you know any 4, 5, or 6 year old bilingual Spanish-English children here in Toronto? It doesn't matter which dialects of Spanish or English the children speak.
I am part of a University of Toronto team of researchers in linguistics who study bilingual language acquisition in children (supervisor, Prof. Ana-Teresa Perez-Leroux). Myself and two other female PhD students will look at pictures with the children and tell stories together in two sessions of about 30 minutes each (one in English, one in Spanish). This study will contribute to our knowledge of how bilinguals learn and how each language effects the other in the mind of the speaker.
If you are interested or know of anyone who may be, please let me know! My email is: [address removed]
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions about the study!!
