Climbing High Park

Hi Everyone, let's have ourselves a work out! Forget riding leisurely along flat rec trails, how fun can that be? I'm talking about climbing! Climbing is fun and way more challenging than it sounds. You'd be amazed how much more quickly you're all out of energy when you're tackling a 30 degree incline, and that's what this ride is all about. We'll be riding in the residential areas surrounding high park, especially those streets just to the west of the park which have very sharp inclines and also right through the middle of the park. The idea is to climb a little, then coast back down and repeat. It is a work out, but the great thing is that the course will be a relatively short loop, so you can't get left behind, regardless of your speed. This is a great opportunity to build some muscle and increase your endurance in high-output situations. There is no speed minimum to be able to participate in this ride, however it is intended to be a strenuous work out, not a leisurely ride. REVISED MAP
Here is a handy map of the route. Total Length: 11km Total Climb: 210m (I have made the route shorter and less complex. Fear not, it did not get any easier.) I hope you join us! - Andy PS. Also look forward to a more extreme version of the Climbing ride coming soon, where we'll tackle the rise and falls of the Niagara Escarpment in Halton Hills.

What a workout! I can ride my bike on flat land all day long, but I don't think I could do this course all day without some bionic legs. I was very glad to see how the group stuck together. Peer motivation really works, as I'm sure had any of us tried to do this ride solo, the second lap around would not have happened. I'm looking forward to doing this ride again.

Andy promised a challenge and really delivered. The route was short but quite challenging and very rewarding. It was nice to have a chance to chill for a bit after as well. I'm glad to hear this will become a regular recurring ride.
