If I Had to ride in the rain, I would. If we don't Have to, better to reschedule.

  • Neale

Not looking good. Too bad - there was going to be quite a good turnout.

    Perhaps you can reschedule.

    September 21, 2013

    • Michael C.

I'll check the calendar and reschedule. I don't think there will be much of a turn-out. ;)

I was keeping hope until last moment but rain is not letting up, have to drop out

      September 21, 2013

  • Michael C.

It looks like there *should* only be light rain, if that. http://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/toronto/m5g/hourly-weather-forecast/55488?hour=11 I'm willing to ride and I'll be at Islington for 1 pm. Should the forecast change to thunderstorms in the afternoon, I'd advise staying home. ;)

Hope you plan another one when the weather is better. To rainy for us too!

      out aswell

      September 21, 2013

  • Michael C.

I'll update tonight - may have to postpone the ride as the weather is not being cooperative.

Looking a bit better. No t-storms. Rain is forecast at 1pm and 5pm. But t-storms are late (we should've had some around noon) so I'm concerned that'll change again...

I suggest you check the radar map on Saturday. The weather guesses are very unreliable.

Event updated with $$ information. Fingers crossed for weather, I will update accordingly Friday when hourlies become available for Saturday's forecast.

Bellwoods and Black Creek. We could hit either en route to the Granite. Both if we want to meander a bit.

is there a cost to go on these tours

    August 26, 2013

    • Michael C.

I'll post on this shortly. Black Oak wants $5 a head to tour, but that includes tastings. We may take a miss on Great Lakes this time as they're not offering a tour, and apparently another tour group has dibs on the 1-2 pm time slot every Saturday.

Still a deal at twice the price mate! I can drink their Nut Brown on a hot July day. Can't go more than a couple of days without a dose of their Pale Ale :-)

Sorry, don't think I can make it. Probably having a family get together.

So where do we leave the bikes during brewery tours? I generally don't leave my ride unattended anywhere outside my home, even with U-Locks, etc.

    August 16, 2013

    • David B.

Ya, usually I carry 2 locks on me. Some of the places might have a patio but not sure if it will be too cold.

      August 18, 2013

    • Greg

Looks like this is redundant now as the OP has left the group? FWIW, we can lock one bike to something fixed then lock others to that bike. It'll slow down anyone trying to grab one. We rarely lock up on the Niagara rides - there's almost always someone with an eye out and a stranger poking around the bikes sticks out like a sore thumb. 10 days to go!

This is a combination of two of my three favourite things. Unfortunately, I'm going to an event for my third favourite thing: food.

I would LOVE to do this one, but will be out of town that weekend. Too bad! Hope it's a success and you do it again so i can join in!

Sounds great. A few questions: total distance? Will you be riding on main roads or side roads? Suitable for someone who rides a hybrid at 17-20km?

    Thanks

    August 13, 2013

    • Michael C.

We're also cycling as a group, safety in numbers, hopefully.

Well if I'm too drunk I may have to follow in my car. Just kidding. I once rode down a cobblestone road in the Alps on eight glasses of wine, but that was about forty years ago, so I'm more careful now.

One brewery that is missing, is in my area, the Junction/High Park North. Of course I'm talking of the Junction Craft Brewery. But since this is the local brewer I visit every weekend, I don't need to visit them on this trip, but many people on this trip may not have heard of them, as their beers are mostly only available in bars, with their flagship brew, Conductor Ale, now available at some LCBO's in cans.

... Michael, I'll miss Cool, stay at Black Oak and catch up at Great Lakes - if I'm still able.

      August 13, 2013

    • Joey S.

Boo Radley's open that early? At least we can take Dundas St. W. most of the way, until Islington Ave. It's 7.5 km from Boo's.

After expressing disdain for Cool Beer, it turns out that I can't even make it to this ride.

    August 13, 2013

  • Denise I

Thanks for organizing! This is a great idea. One quibble: Cool Beer is pretty terrible. Replacing it with Bellwoods, or Mill St, which are both excellent, would be a vast improvement. Of course, I understand that the route may make Cool Beer necessary.

    1 · August 13, 2013

    • Joey S.

Cool is also just down the street, sort of, from Great Lakes Brewing, in Etobicoke.

      August 13, 2013

    • Michael C.

I threw Cool in due to its proximity to Great Lakes and Black Oak. Based on timing, this may be a skip once I hear back from the breweries as to touring time.

Sounds like a beer! I mean a blast!
