Ride the old Pedal 100 century route

While Pedal 100 was fun this year, I kept wondering how the old (pre-2012) route would have compared. Anybody up for this outing? I'd like to maintain a cruising speed of about 30-35km/h.

This is the aforementioned route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3147222

I actually pulled a muscle riding today. I don't think this ride is still on for tomorrow. Hopefully we can postpone it to another day. I'm probably I'm if do Port Credit ride next week!

I'd like to join in the Port Credit rides when the weather and the trail is on the dry side. Any day is fine, but would prefer a time when the return is before sunset.

I emailed all of you Yes RSVP'ers to ask about what to do with this ride. I'm happy to do it or postpone it, just not cancel it! :)

Also, who wants to start doing weekly Port Credit runs? Any day of week preference?

I changed my RSVP to no because of weather. Would be up for it when all ice and snow is gone.

I'm out. in California all week and riding in subzero temps this weekend makes me cold already! I'm down for Port Credit rides when the weather is better! Miss riding with you guys, the winter has been too long.

Are we still doing this ride? And is anyone driving or taking Go train/bus?

It's going to be -3C with flurries. I'm still on my 29er with studded tires. I want more than 5C with some sun please.

I'm hoping there are others looking for a 20-25km/h pace. I will likely go for fast runs but I prefer more of a touring attitude of observe and absorb as I already do everything with a deadline :)

Hi members, I would like to hear from people who are using magnetic trainer for cycling indoors. Which one to buy? And from where? Thanks in advance.

So how's everyone's training getting along for this?? I'll be putting in a lot more hours on the trainer as a new year's resolution..

I'm on my bike too, except indoors on a trainer. Trying to keep it interesting by juggling bean bags while I'm riding. Yes, juggling.

Hockey and rides on days warmer than -15.

Hey Andy, I'm interested in this ride. Just wondering if you're planning to drive or take the Go train to St Catherines?

    • Greg

We'll probably need to carpool. Easter is in April and it's train to Hamilton/Aldershot and bus the rest of the way. That direct train probably won't start running until May 24 weekend.

So I MUST get a magnetic trainer this winter - to hold that pace in March :-)

You know, I just looked at the route again, and it occured to me that the person who planned it was rather cruel. All of the hard hills are after the 130km mark, when you're already well tired. Well, no one said it wasn't a challenge.

Hoping all the snow will be melted by then :D

    November 4, 2013

    • Andy Z.

Haha, yeah, let's hope. If not we'll nudge the date. If its icy we'd be liable to slide backwards on those steep escarpment climbs!

Perfect motivation to keep me on my trainer over the winter months!

That's absolutely a fantastic reason to sign up for this ride. I'm not looking forward to the day that the weather forces me to mount my bike on the trainer, but I have a ton of bike races to watch so those are perfect for the trainer.

Possibly. As long as <20 is acceptable on up hills and >60 is ok on the downs.
