Sunday City Ride - Sept. 8th

Let's try my cancelled Labour Day ride again on Sunday the 8th.

We'll meet up at Christie Pits Park (NW corner of Bloor and Christie). Ride north to Devenport / Dupont, and then south thru High Park to the Waterfront and the start of the Humber River Trail. We'll ride that to Eglinton, and then west on the Eglinton Bike Path. Then south on the West Deane Park Trail, eventually connecting with Royal York, and south the the Waterfront Trail. Then east to Strachan and back north to the start. We can break then for some ice cream or lunch.

The ride will be primarily on bike paths or streets with bike lanes, and will be about 30 in length. Max speed will be about 20 km/hr. The ride will be suitable for all types of bikes.

My cell number on the day of if you are running late is[masked]-7019. Hope to see you there!

I haven't been sleeping much this weekend, so I don't think I'll make this one after all. :(

:) I walk into walls and other objects when I'm under slept. Not on a bike, just walking, my accident proneness quadruples when I'm tired, I just thought it might prove rather dangerous on a bike.

The Sunday City Leisurely ride was not what I was expecting for a Level 1+ rider. The maximum speed posted was 20km for the event but we were doing more than that. If the average speed posted for the event had been 20km I would have known that this was not a ride for me. It should be noted that the four riders who dropped out were all female riders. Donald did try to come back and gather up us at the back of the pack but it would have been better for a group of this size to have had a sweep. I am rating this trip good because the four of us who dropped out had a very enjoyable ride at our pace and lunch - total km 37km

I think Donald did a pretty good job of making sure no one got lost. He waited at every folk in the road. I think it's just a matter of finding a group that you feel comfortable riding with. I have been "dropped" before and it just makes me want to come back next week and bike harder to keep up. Don't feel discouraged that you were in the back, if you come out everytime you will get faster and one day you will average 20km/h!

I really enjoyed this ride -one of the last few nice weekends we'll have before the colder weather. The Humber is always nice, and it was great to take some trails I haven't done before. The pace and distance were good - nice end-of-summer ride!
