I'm doing the 75 km route, so I'll need to start between 6am and 6:30am. I have not ridden my bike as much prior to this Ride for Heart as last year's, so I'll aim for 20-25 km/hr.

Denise. You can start later than 6:30 and still do 75 km. As long as you're finished before 2 pm. (probably safe by 1:30). but I will deny writing this, if asked. LOL.

I don't trust myself to be fast enough to start late and finish on time. I'll be there at 6am (cries).
Fortunately I live only 15 minutes ride from the CNE.
How much does one have to pledge for this ride?
I really want to do the 75k but would rather not get up before dawn lol. How would it work if I decided to start at 9am? Would I pick the 50k general start at registration and then just do the 75k? I figure I can do it in 3 hours pretty easily.

I am not sure how this works. One has to raise $100 by June 1 and pay an additional $ 60 for registration. Correct? Meaning if one is unable to find sponsors then you pay yourself.
Yeah basically. I usually get a few friends to chip in and donate. If you don't get any donations, you can self donate.
Nahid, no one polices how far you'll go. You just need to finish in time for them to open up the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner.
It'll be my first year to join. I can ride at your pace Denise. Can we stop along the DVP to take pics/selfies? Planning to ride at 630am.

We can definitely stop to take photos, and eat as much free food as possible at the rest stops. I think we are aiming to start at 6am. Hope you can join us.

hey I'm also doing the 75KM this year, I'm aiming to do it at my own pace probably between 25-30km/hr. I will be starting at 6am as well, perhaps we can just meet up at the start and at the end?
0 · May 25, 2014
Chris, we can meet up at the beginning, but I'm not sure about the end. It's very busy at the finish line, and it will hard to predict when people are done.

Hi am doing 75km aiming for 20-25 km/hr. First time and excited...hope my knee cooperates:) did we decide where we are meeting up before the start?
0 · May 30, 2014
I'm going 75km, too. I know that the start time is 6 am, but (1) where exactly will we be meeting, and (2) where is a good (cheap/free) place to park nearby? Please let me know. Thanks.

This go buried a bit, but we're planning on meeting here before 6:00am (for those doing the 75km). It's in front of the Better Living Centre where the fountain is. https://goo.gl/maps/Zp...
I'm doing the 75km route as well but my road bike isn't ready so I'll be riding my fixie!!
Mike and Denise bring your single speeds tomorrow and ride with me!!
No, I'm going to ride my road bike so that I have a faint hope of keeping up.
Hyedie, you're such a trooper doing it on your fixie!!

Thanks Mike! While my time/speed was slightly slower than last year, I feel really accomplished!!

The ride was great this year. One of only two Ride for Hearts where the weather was nice. Unfortunately, I rode alone as I was too slow for the fast riders and too fast for the slower riders.
I want to do the 75k at about 27-30km/h avg pace. Any takers? 6:00 start.
I think you averaged a bit higher than that. ;)

Great Ride on a beautiful day. I had a blast and beat my past year's performance. It was great to meet up with the group at the start of the ride and run into some of you at the rest stops. Next week we do this with live traffic, yeah?
I did 50k, great ride!
Great ride, great weather, couldn't have asked for much more. :)
At risk of being repetitive, if you're doing the 75K, meet at the fountain at around 6am at the T intersection of Saskatchewan and Manitoba: https://goo.gl/maps/Zpe88
We can figure out groupings based on projected speed at that time.

See you in a few hrs
I'll be there with wheels on.
Not sure I'll be there by 6 AM, but dn't wait for me. Looks like we won't get rained on for once!
I will do 75 with someone... Let me know where to meet
Anyone doing 50km starting 8? We could make a group. My average 15-20 km/hr.
I will start at 8am with my other group...
Does anybody want to trade donations? I'll donate an equal amount that anyone else donates to my Ride for Heart fundraising campaign to their fundraising campaign of choice, up to a grand total of $300. If you want to trade donations, just reply to this message with the amount and a link to your donation page. You can donate to my campaign at http://support.heartandstroke.ca/goto/andyz
Hi Andy. I'll trade donations with you. I've sent you an email...
Thanks Isaac! There are now $250 left in my donation trading pool.

I'm sending a donation back to you as well.
Donald, thanks so much!
Hi I do 25 or 38km, 15-20km/h, , start at 8am, :)
I'll be doing 50 starting at 8. Not sure if I can switch to 75, if I feel up to it.
Just want to mention that Burger Day is taking place on June 1, noon to 5:00 pm at Fork York. I was very tired after the Ride for Heart last year, so I will need to play it by ear, but it is very tempting. More info at http://burgerweek.ca/burger-week/day/.
Hi Sarthak: If you like we could form a group with others starting at the same time. I believe one has to arrive an hour earlier to pick up the kit.
Hey, just checked my registration and realized that i was in the early start group.. so sorry..
Anyone doing 50km starting at 8? My average is 15-20 km/hr.
Hey shahid, i am..
Im doing the 50km with a friend early start at 630 am. I think were going to aim for around 18-20km/hr since my friend is a new rider.

I'll be doing the 75k ride. My GF will be doing the 50k ride. Going to try to start as early as possible. Did we want to meet at the fountain again this year at the T intersection of Saskatchewan and Manitoba? https://goo.gl/maps/Zpe88
Yes, the 75 km riders can meet there at 6am? What speed are you aiming for?
I'm aiming for 25km/hr but willing to ride as a group at conversational pace. I lost everybody in last year's rain and it was a long lonely ride. haha
I'll try to keep up, and then, when I'm tired, I'll do something to even the odds (ie feed you some turkey, add lead weights, puncture your tires).
Speaking of punctured tires, you're halfway there. My front tire suffered a gouge on the sidewall during my last ride. I need to replace it before RFH and RTCC. so that means soon!
Ride your mountain bike!
I've done it before! Not the most fun on the hills though.
Ride your single speed!

I did 50km last year. There were turnaround points at 25km, 38km, and 50km. This year, I might do 38km. I am wondering how the meetup is going to meet?
You should state when you plan to arrive and how fast you will go. Then, hopefully, someone will match you and you can make arrangements on when and where to meet to ride together.
1 · May 21, 2014
I'll join at the starting point.
I am doing the 50km one.. so excited about the opportunity to ride on Gardiner.. :)
Will be doing 75 km. Have a new bike; hope to average 25 kph. LOL.
Since the Gardiner will only be two lanes, take advantage of the slipstream when everybody is starting off together!
The 75k is to where and back?
See route map here: http://support.hearta...
I'd like to meet up with everyone before the ride, but I'll be doing the ride itself at my own pace. I'll be doing 75 km.
I’m interested in the 75km ride.
