Humber River Ride

Let's have a ride up the Humber Valley Trail out past the Humber Arboretum to the very end of the trail.

The ride will be on Saturday the 9th, starting at 10:30 AM at Coronation Park at the base of Strachan, near the Prince's Gate. Parking is available at Fort York.

From there we'll ride west along the Lakeshore to the Humber Bridge, and then north on the Humber Trail.

We'll take the trail north past Lawrence and the 401, and then take the trail west past to the Humber Arboretum. We'll have some lunch by the river (please bring your own, there's not really anywhere to buy some up there), and then ride back. A map of the route is at the link at the end of this message.

The ride will almost entirely be on bike trails, we'll have to ride on a few short sections of road, most notably at Lawrence where the trail gets cut off by a golf course.

The ride will be suitable for all types of bikes, I'm looking at a pace in the 20 -22 km/hr range, depending on what most people are comfortable with.

The entire ride will be about 65 km. There will be ample places for people to turn around and head back, or take a TCC bus to the nearest subway station.

My cell number (for calls the day of) is[masked], if you are running late or anything, please send me a text.

Hope to see you there!

Just to get it right, the different times 11.15, 11.30 are for guys joining along the way. The ride starts at 10.30 at Coronation Park. Is that right?

    August 8, 2014

    • Donald S.

Yes. We are meeting at Coronation Park 10:30 AM. We'll pick up a few people in the park when we go thru it about 11:15.

PLEASE NOTE - I made a mistake with my previous time, I thought I had scheduled the ride for 11 AM, not 10:30. We should be going thru the park about 11:15AM, not 11:45. Sorry for the confusion.

      August 8, 2014

    • Jane

Thanks, then I should be there at 11am in case. Jane

  • Kirsten

Any chance I could join you at Etienne Brule Park and if so, what time are you likely to be there?

Ride sounds great - just be tough for me to get to the start of it- thanks.

Oh, okay. This will be my first bike Meetup so I wasn't sure of the logistics and timelines of these rides.

PLEASE NOTE - I made a mistake above with the time, I thought I had scheduled the ride for 11 AM, now 10:30. We should be going thru the park about 11: 15AM, not 11:45. Sorry for the confusion.
