Racing the sun along the DVP (from downtown, approx. 30 KM)

You are welcomed to race the sun with me. A few important facts:
- Please note the new 6:45PM departure time.
- It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to bring lights for this event.
- We sometimes regroup after for drinks so plan for attending if you want to socialize.

This ride is for any rider that can ride the distance (see hereunder) and can sustain the speed (see hereunder). This is intended to be a fun ride but with a goal to keep a good pace in order to improve our cardio.

1. Locations
 - Starting: NE corner of Parliement Street and Distillery Lane (the SW corner of the Distillery complex)
 - Mid-point: Around Edwards Garden or Sunnybrook Hospital
 - Ending: (starting location)

2. Route conditions:
 - Path type: Paved/ Dedicated
 - Mostly flat, a few medium hills, a few but short sand and gravel spots (when we go to Edwards Garden)
 - Distance (total): Approximately 30 KM

3. Ride requirements:
 - Average speed: We will target 20-30 KM per hour (we often do interval training)
 - Break(s): We will take a 10 min break once we reach the mid-point location before riding back
 - Bike type: Any, but a hybrid or road bike is better suited for the target speed.

4. Additional notes:
- It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to bring lights for this ride;
 - This ride is weather permitting;
 - Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring water (important to hydrate) and if needed snacks;
- Please be on time and respect your RSVP; We intend to leave on time;
 - No guest allowed; Your friend needs to sign up for the Meetup to participate;

- By taking part in this event you attest: a) you are in good health, b) you participate at your own risks, and c) you release the organizer(s) from any responsibility;

    Tonight was amazing. We were like the three musketeers (everyone knows there were 4). We did the 2 hills: Sunnybrook Hospital and Sunnybrook Park. We saw a 5 feet dear right in the middle of the path and 2 rabbits in different locations trying to race us to get away. Fun evening. It rained a bit but it only started more intensely when we were done.

    If I'm late, what will your route be? Will try to be there before 7:00 anyway.

      BTW I dont have a data plan so can't get internet if I'm on my bike and not near a Starbucks.

      I guess we could exchange numbers with the organizor. I sent J-Y a text when I was late. Just send a direct message on meetup to organizor asking to exchange numbers incase you have to contact. If the person is already riding, he/she may not reply to a text until he/she stops so if you are late it may be hard to join the group. I've been late to half the meetups I attended lol. Usually I try to catch up or figure out 2nd stop point. In this case, there's a 2nd stop where donvalley trail meets traylor creek trail. There's giant elephant teeth there, that's where Randy joined the group.

      Weather radar is looking promising - but work stuff prevents me from joining - have fun!

    Sorry for all the changes/uncertainty. Based on what I see now, I think the south Toronto area is likely going to be without rain so I am reinstating the Meetup for those that want to ride. I will be there. You are welcomed to join.

    Due to the forecast which is not improving I am cancelling this meet up. If there is rain this route can get messy. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Please note: If the ride takes place, having lights will be even more important in these cloudy conditions.
