Forks of the Credit epic climbing ride

Hi Folks, when I recently drove this route one evening I became very excited because I KNEW I would HAVE to do a ride on these roads. Join me to tackle this awesome challenge together. You will be rewarded with a beautiful technical descent on a nice and steep descent, a roll through a quaint setting reminiscent of Alpine villages you might see on TV road races, and then challenged by climbing a veritable wall (92m elevation gain over 2km) before a nice downhill roll back to civilization. We'll end our ride in Streetsville with a stop at a coffee shop.

Meeting at 8:30am at the Streetsville GO parking lot, we'll set off for our adventure traveling up Heritage Road, through Terra Cotta, then along Mississauga Road into Belfountain. That is where the fun starts!

The route is just under 100k, but needless to say it is challenging.

Amazing pace line on the return trip, and not to mention the absurd hill at McLaren. Fun, fun, fun!

Just a quick photo I took today to get you all psyched for tomorrow : ) https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/114672715894013799765/albums/5703254742897843521/5785998668281052210

The ride up the switchback isn't nearly as bad as it seems, but it looks amazing!

Looks like we'll have nice and cool weather tomorrow, which will be perfect for riding.

I'm going on my seven-speed hybrid, complete with panniers. since this isn't a race, use a bike that you're comfortable with. I have the panniers because I carry enough tools and parts to make sure I can get back in case of difficlties.

I think I will give it a shot. I'm not sure I'll make it all the way but it sounds like a fun ride.

Check the Google Streetview link Andy posted in the description above. It's 2x 180 degree switchbacks. You need to slow down for sure, but it's not dangerous.

Hi Andy, Looking at the map most of the route seems pretty level. How steep is the technical descent you're talking about?

@Jacqui: The route is just under 100km long, but challenging. I would say that it is best suited to those who cruise at between 25 and 30km/h on flats and can tackle a long steady climb.

@Henry: Would love to see you make it out and ride with you again dude! Definitely will do a reprise towards the end of the season that includes the up version of the switchback. I only wish there were more switchbacks!

Sounds fabulous! What sort of distance will you do?

Hey Andy, it's even more fun to ride up the switchbacks! That will be for part 2.
I'll see if I can make this one, since it starts close to home.

Hey Guy, depending on the survival rate from this ride I will schedule a follow up sooner or later... I'm going to have to get out my calendar and map out the remaining weekends in the season, but definitely want to do this ride again before the roads ice over. Looking forward to meeting you on a ride sometime!

Well, even if you're just keen for a spin even if everyone else feels it's too much of a tongue-hanging-out-of-mouth kinda ride, I'm in, time permitting! Going out on a quick 110Km now - Bell School Line included, after all, there are no views without hills :)!

Hi Eliana, no I'm not taking the transit to get to the starting point, but you can! There is a GO bus that leaves Union station at 7:20 and arrives at Streetsville station at 8:15. Please note that the buses only have room for two bikes on their front racks (unless you are willing to stow your beloved ride in the luggage compartment below), so if you can drive to the station, or stay over with a friend nearby, that's better to avoid the risk of not getting your bike on the bus! That said, I think besides our group it is very unlikely that anyone else will be trying to take their bike to Streetsville at 7:20 on a Sunday morning.

HI Andy. Just a question...Are you taking the go train(or bus) to the location?? thanks

I would love to ride this Andy, but I've so sadly already got something on! When's the next time?

I am so looking forward to this ride!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
