CITIZEN KANE

Hello everyone!! We will be showing "Citizen Kane" in the Screening Room on March 23rd. The film will begin at 7:30 PM.

Orson Welles first feature film -- which he directed, produced, and co-wrote, as well as playing the title role -- proved to be his most important and influential work, a ground-breaking drama loosely based on the life of William Randolph Hearst which is frequently cited as the finest American film ever made. Aging newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane (Orson Welles) dies in his sprawling Florida estate after uttering a single, enigmatic final word -- "Rosebud."

New and improved cost for films at the Screening Room, $8.00.

Driving - The Screening Room is located at Fairview Mall at the corner of Don Mills Rd. and Sheppard. Since we're all coming from different directions I suggest going to www.mapquest.ca and click on "Get Directions." Your destination address is 1800 Sheppard Ave. East.

Transit - From the Yonge/University Line, Go to Sheppard Station and then take the Sheppard Subway Line to Don Mills Station. From the Bloor/Danforth Subway Line, go to Pape Station and take the #25, Don Mills bus to Don Mills Station. Don Mills Station leads right to Fairview Mall. For further TTC info call[masked] & dial O to speak with a live person.

Free Mall Parking!! Try to park near Shopper's Drug Mart.

Once you're in the mall, go to the 2nd level. The SilverCity Cineplex is between Purdy's Chocolates and Shopper's Drug Mart. At SilverCity, go up the escalator and immediatley turn left. From there you will see the lounge and screening room.

After the film we can hang out together and discuss the film in the screening room or in the lounge.

We look forward to seeing you!!

I was wondering... how come a such old movie is so modern like that?

I think it's because Orson Welles was such a genius. Great art is timeless. :)

Even better that you got to see it in a screening room!! True, Ben, it's on my top ten list for great films. The French Connection, coming up next month, though completely different from Citizen Kane, is also on that list. I'm looking forward to seeing the chase scene on the 12 foot screen. Thanks for being there, Ben!!

It's pretty amazing that Orson Welles was able to put together such a masterpiece at the young age of 25, and his first film at that. I think that is known as pure genius. Amazing film!! Thanks everyone for coming out!!
