Social support and friends are the message of her book. Lithium is toxic and even so at prescribed levels. Kidneys and brain impairment make Lithium a bad choice. Brain shrinkage from neuroleptics, eg. Seroquel etc. have been proven. I am now reversing my decision to try a life with meds. I have a social worker who will put me in the hospital if he notices mania. We are going to make a social contract because I am just irretrievalbly lost when manic. I think I have Bipolar 1.
Currently struggling with depression and no meds since Mar. 2012. I have read a book from 2008 called the Myths of the Chemical Cure by Moncrieff, a practising psychiatrist from UK and her book is about how the current drugs are not working directly on the cause of our mental illnesses which are not diseases. Pharmaceutical and Psychiatry and the government prefer us using drugs that block or lessen our problems because it is cheaper than building more asylums and having people housed.
Hi there, neighbour! I'm at Pape and Danforth.
Hi Bruce, Likewise. Indeed, my dog is quite fun. Christine
I see the group has organized another pay what you can on March 3 to see the Craigs List show. I'll check my sched., but will likely try to go.
Hi Bruce - I intended to go to the CraigsList Cantata but it was way too cold to stand outside in a line to buy tickets. Was it a good show?
My depression is a bummer. Always thought I could handle it but this year is different. Age and other news of my former family are crumbling my strength. Take it easy Bruce. We must learn to get stronger by trying. Meditation will be a new goal for me. Just read Jesus spent 70% of his life meditating and he hardly slept.
