Toronto Data Science Group Planning

This is a an informal discussion, over a beer, about the best way for the Data Science community to network itself together. It's all very meta.

There are at least five broad interest groups in the city.

Concretely:

  • The Open Data Movement
  • The Digital Marketing Analytics group and broader DAA membership
  • SaaS Engineer community
  • Hadoop devs (snowflakes)
  • The hardcore data science practitioners

And, what are you interested in, concretely:

  • Formal presentations
  • Roundtables
  • Pub Networking Events

I don't know what to expect in terms of turnout, so, if there's an overwhelming response, I'll respond in an overwhelming way. Sound good?

Venue subject to change, but it'll be in that area regardless.

Good session. I hope to see some stakes in the ground on the shaping of a future event that is more exposed and open to the larger software development community in Toronto. Cross-promoting it with DevTO would bring in at least 20 initial attendees just from that group alone.
