Thought some of you might be interested in this upcoming event - here's the blurb I received:

Open Data Day is an international event, linking events in cities around the world.

This year, ODD Toronto will be held at the Centre for Social Innovation's newest location in Regent Park, and will feature:
Case studies: inspiring examples of how data (open and not) has been used towards real civic & community benefit
Workshops: geared to data newbies who'd like to learn some new tools for finding, using, analyzing and visualizing data
Speed "data-ing": talk to government data owners about how you'd like to use their data, and their perspectives on opportunities around open data
Lightning Talks: (very) short presentations and pitches about projects, apps, ideas and tools from citizens, politicians, community groups, companies and anyone else who'd like to contribute
Hackathon: space for techies and non-techies to collaborate on developing apps, visualizations and analyses, using (open) data for civic & community benefit

We need your help! We're looking for:

A) Case study presenters.
~15 minute case studies detailing the story of a data project (open data or not), including some or all of: identifying the need, building the team, finding and managing the data, delivering the project, and measuring outcomes. These can be your own projects, or ones you're simply familiar with.

B) Speed data-ers.
Public sector employees who own/manage government datasets. Outside users of open data rarely have the opportunity to meet those who are responsible for creating or maintaining the datasets. We believe that by providing this opportunity, both sides can benefit.

C) Workshop leaders.
30-minute intro-level workshops that would appeal to the data-curious -- open data or data in general. These can be focused around a tool, a dataset, or a context. The format is wide open.

D) Lightning Talk presenters.
Fast-faced 5-minute presentations (in-person or via Skype) on any topic related to open data, civic data in general, or the potential outcomes. It could be about a project you like, a community need that's unmet, an app you built, a service you provide, or just a helpful perspective.

E) Sponsors.
We'd like to offer coffee, snacks, lunch, and wine and beer at the end of the day.

We'd like to nail down the schedule for the case studies, speed data-ers and workshops by February 12th, so please let us know as soon as possible if you'll be able to help out!
