Missed to thank BNotions, Best place to organize a meetup in Toronto; Great space, free Pizzas and free beer! (even though I can't enjoy the beer part :)).

For the record, we talked about:
    1. Full Text Search on Email with HBase and ElasticSearch
    2. Visualization of ElasticSearch with AngularJS + D3.js
    3. CouchbaseDB and how it enables Add Platforms (with Hadoop crunching User Profiles in the background)
    4. Real-time Model Scoring with PMML and various other technologies like Storm, HBase, and R Enterprise
    5. Mobile add platform recommendation engine including Hadoop, Redis, and Video Processing. Folks, please correct me if I have missed or misrepresented anything. This was a very educational session for me personally so thanks!

Getting my hands dirty with angular, elasticsearch and d3.js using Matt Webber's elasticsearch JS api and fired up on my VM with some stackoverflow data, would that be of interest?

    November 25, 2013

    • Adam M.

Yes, visualizing data would be most welcome. I'm especially interested in the d3.js stuff

      November 26, 2013

    • Hardik

ok, cool - d3.js stuff may not be polished (will try my best)- but its enough for the use case - will share apache kibana if there is enough interest

Use Case: Hadoop for learning on abstract unstructured data sources (e.g. video).

    November 6, 2013

  • Ashwin T.

Adam, unfortunately BNOTIONS has another event already booked for the evening of Nov.27th. Our space is available the next evening though (Nov.28th), if date is flex for you and fellow THUGs.

    Would HDInsight count in?

    November 1, 2013

    • Adam M.

It totally would. Your experience with that is valuable insight. No pun intended. I'm curious myself as I've been looking at the next generation of that with Microsoft. Did you do anything with the free Visual Studio plugin? Any powershell stuff? It's all good info.

      November 1, 2013

    • Arthur Z.

Just sow you message. No I did not use the addon. I guess you mentioned the SDK? No PowerShell either. Used ODBC to access Hive tables from within Excel and SSIS.

Folks, Hadoop experience is required. We want to aim for a small and productive group

    October 31, 2013

    • Adam M.

by Hadoop experience, I mean you have read enough to plan out your use case.
