This is an outdoor event and may be rescheduled due to adverse weather. Please check this event page at 3 PM on the day of the event for any updates.
Tonight we participate in one of the oldest sports and most pleasant of summer activities -- lawn bowling! The sun is shining, a gentle breeze is blowing, music is playing in the background and there you are, out on a perfectly manicured lawn, bowling your balls, making friends, laughing at the fact that no one can bowl straight and drinking your drinks. Just about an idyllic way to spend an evening isn't it?
No special skill is required, the game is suitable for all ages and it is a lot of fun! You do however need the physical ability to hold a small ball and roll it down the field one handed. Full instructions will be provided by the staff at the bowling club.
We will be playing in teams of 3 in a round robin tournament style system so that at the end of the evening, the team with the highest score will be crowned the Toronto Social Group Lawn Bowling Champions and get a chintzy prize from a dollar store. But hey, they will get bragging rights too!
After the bowling we will all move to the beautiful clubhouse for our after-bowling social gathering. Soft drinks, water and munchies will be provided.
We will start gathering and socializng from 630 PM onwards.
Instruction will start at 715 PM and last for 15 minutes. Play will begin at 730 PM. Please try to arrive by 715 PM at the latest so that you have an opportunity to listen to the instructions being provided and be assigned to a team.
The cost of the evening including bowling & instruction is $30 per person. Bottled water, soft drinks and munchies are also included. Please pay when you arrive.
Clothing & Shoes
No special clothing is required and whatever you feel comfortable in is fine. Typical lawn bowling attire is generally white and looks like the clothing worn by tennis players at Wimbledon. Extra appreciation for you if you are able to wear white.
Important: You MUST wear flat soled shoes. Running shoes are ideal but any flat footwear is fine. Footwear cannot have heels since heeled shoes damage the lawn surface.
See you there!
