Event Details:

The Actual Greatest Show on

Packed with top talent in Toronto, The *Actual* Greatest Show on Earth is a hugely entertaining evening that highlights three of the most outstanding improv troupes in the country. Featuring; RN and Cawls (Rob Norman and Adam Cawley), Slap Happy (Kerry Griffin, Dave Pearce, Sandy Jobin-Bevans, and Tabatha Wells) and the Illustrated Men (David Huband, Bruce Hunter, and Adrianne Truss).

On This Show:

RN and Cawls
Two best bros test the very limits of their friendship as they navigate through strange new worlds in this 30-minute improvised, storytelling event. Starring Second City alumni Adam Cawley and Rob Norman.
Adam Cawley (Writer/Actor) is a Canadian Comedy Award winning actor and writer. He is also an alumnus of The Second City Mainstage where he wrote and performed in four revues, including the record breaking Something Wicked Awesome This Way Comes. Adam recently finished writing and starring in Guidance, a web series for BITE TV, which he also co-wrote and co-created.
Rob Norman is thrilled to be a member of the Second City National Touring Company. Born in Toronto, Rob attended York University, directed four revues with My First Crush, and has been nominated three times by the Canadian Comedy Awards for Best Comedic Play.

Slap Happy (NOW Magazine’s Top 10 Comedy Show of 2008)
They have performed to critical and audience acclaim in Los Angeles, New York, Amsterdam, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Memphis, Orlando, Winnipeg and Leuven, Belgium. They have performed with a DJ, with pyrotechnics, and without any audience input. Twice named the best improv troupe in Toronto (NOW MAGAZINE, 2002 & 2003), twice named the best improv troupe in Canada (CANADIAN COMEDY AWARDS, 2002 & 2003), Slap Happy Improvisational Theatre Company is the leading edge of Canadian improvisation.
Kerry Griffin (Train 48), Sandy Jobin-Bevans (Second City Mainstage, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle), Dave Pearce (Undercover Brother, Looking for Angelina) and Tabetha Wells (Second City National Touring Company) have been called "one of the smartest and funniest outfits in town...of whatever genre" (NOW Magazine); "smart and screwy" (Toronto Star); and "consistently inventive and funny" (Orlando Sentinel).

As part of the Chicago Improv Fest, they have shared the stage with the writers of Mad-TV, and the cast of Whose Line is it Anyway?. In Amsterdam, and Leuven, Belgium, they brought the banner of Canadian improvisation to Europe. The foursome were frequent guests on CBC Toronto's Metro Morning, providing a satirical look at issues in the news.
Whether bringing a DJ onstage, performing a full-length play, or taking inspiration from the life work of a country icon, Slap Happy continues to break new ground in improvisational comedy. While their public appearances are increasingly rare, they still manage to garner raves with every show.

“Long-form improv troupe Slap Happy (Dave Pearce, Sandy Jobin-Bevans, Tabetha Wells and Kerry Griffin) out-class almost every other troupe in town with their smart (these guys have book-learnin'), character-driven shows which result in a show full of gut-bustingly funny scenes. An improv troupe's only as good as its weakest member. Slap Happy has no weakest link.” – NOW Magazine

The Illustrated Men
The Illustrated Men consist of Bruce Hunter (“The Day Reagan was shot” “Good Will Hunting” “Eerie Indiana” & “Degrassi”), Adrienne Truss (Donkey Kong Country, Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, Bob and Margaret, and a Gemini Award for Atomic Betty), and David Huband (Rick Mercer Report, Republic of Doyle, and Little Mosque on the Prarie)
Combining lightning-fast improvisation and music, the Men bring satire back to a comedy landscape littered with the bodies of dead stand-ups. Operating from premises and situations dictated by audience suggestion, The Men fly in the face of danger with shows comprised of both improvised and written material.

Professional actors and writers, together they created written, filmed and live productions, often with political and socially conscious themes.

"The fast-paced ideas, one-liners and silly situations created by Illustrated Men are not to be missed! They strike while the idea is hot and there's a lot of sizzle! The trio does it with style, enthusiasm and intelligence which makes it a lot of fun. Hilarious!" – Calgary Sun
