Discover Toronto Neighbourhood Walk VII - Mt. Pleasant Cemetery & the Brickworks

Gateway to Mount Pleasant Cemetery (ByTorontoplaques.com)

(Above: Photos from the last discovery walk)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important update: Hey guys, the start time of the walk has been changed to

1:00 P.M.

This is because most of the Evergreen Brick Works closes down around

4:00 pm, so I wanted to start the event earlier to give us more time to reach the Brick Works. I apologize for the short notice.

If you aren't able to attend at 1 pm but still want to take part, you can always join us later on, either at the Brick Works or when we get something to eat afterwards. Just text me at[masked] and I'll let you know where we are.

Looking forward to seeing you all! It's gonna be an amazing walk and experience. :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the seventh of the Discover Toronto Neighbourhood Walk I'm doing. It's just a casual walk along a scenic or beautiful place in Toronto.

Since we've never finished the walk in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, we are going to continue our walk and then finish it at the Evergreen Brickworks.

We are going to start by meeting at the outside entrance of Davisville subway station. Using the Beltline Trail, we'll head back and walk through Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Then we will walk down the nature path through Moore Park Ravine, which will take us to the Evergreen Brick Works. Once we're done enjoying and seeing the Brick Works, we will take the shuttle bus back to Broadview subway station, where we'll head to a restaurant on the Danforth and grab a bite to eat!

Here's the path we'll take:

http://goo.gl/maps/XTijk

Highlights of the walk include:

-Mount Pleasant Cemetery: An iconic cemetery in Toronto. Some photos from the last walk:

-Moore Park Ravine

-Evergreen Brick Works: A former industrial site in the Don Valley now transformed into an environmental centre where activities such as farmer markets and art-related workshops take place!

Bring your cameras and have fun enjoying the scenery while socializing with your fellow TNT members!

Exit Points

If you don't want to do the entire walk, you can always stop and take the bus midway through.

If you know that you will not be doing the entire walk, then be sure to figure out beforehand where you'll stop to take the TTC back or to your car.

How to Prepare for the walk

1) Please use the washroom before meeting up for the event.

2) Bring some food and water with you in case you get hungry or thirsty.

3) Bring your camera! There will be lots of cool things to take pictures of.

Where We'll Meet

We'll be meeting at the outside entrance of Davisville subway station. This is how the entrance looks like:

If you get lost or need directions, you can call/text me at [masked]-9218.

Thank you Roger. It was a great time. A nice walk through nature, interesting Brickworks, 4 Weddings and a Funeral, across the Bridge of Death, a nice group of people in the found restaurant with prices that could be made to accommodate and tasty food (even the water was delicious).
Now can you add me to the RSVPs so I can send a 'Nice to See You' to all the people I talked to?
Plus, if you send me an email, I can send you those pics and video of Wychwood Park I was talking about.

Oh no...the time's changed??? Even if I leave now, I won't be able to get there. Darn! I was so looking forward to this! Sorry...can't make this trip.

Has the time change been confirmed?

I noticed a majority of those who did the poll have indicated they want to meet at 1pm, but with 60+ who haven't replied they may still be under the impression it starts at 2 pm.

I'm coming from the east end, so the more notice, the better.

    thanks

This will be my first visit to Evergreen Brickworks. I am looking forward to it :)

UPDATE: I just called Evergreen Brickworks, and they mentioned to me that most of their stuff closes around 4 p.m. So I was thinking of starting the walk earlier, at 1 p.m. so we are able to get to the Brickworks before this time. This is short notice, so I've made a poll to let you guys decide when you want to start. Here it is:

    http://www.meetup.com/TorontoTNT/polls/1127822/

I'll let everyone know by tonight when the walk will start.

Taste of the Danforth is happening this weekend so it will be super busy on the Danforth. Not sure what restaurant you had in mind for after the walk.
